No threat found after social media post targets Warren Junior High School: BPD

Bakersfield Police say a post circulating social media targeting Warren Junior High School was deemed to be no direct threat to students.

On Sunday, school officials received a report of a possible shooting threat made on social media targeting the southwest Bakersfield middle school, according to Panama-Buena Vista Union School District.

Administrators say a community member, as well as school officials, called BPD about the incident.

Police say they got calls from multiple people about the threatening social media post.

Amid the investigation, officers say they found no direct threats to students, staff, or the school.

PBVUSD says they will work closely with BPD to ensure the safety of students and staff at the campus.

School officials say they are following safety procedures in place for incidents like this.

Extra staff will also be on campus to offer counseling and support for students and staff.
