A man pleaded guilty last month to murdering a 19-year-old in Kyle in September 2019 and was sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Davonte Tennille Miller, 25, was charged with the murder of Benjamin Albert Verse, who was found dead in a vehicle parked in a business lot off I-35 back in September of 2019. Miller was arrested in Louisiana following an investigation by the Kyle Police Department and the San Marcos Police Department.

As part of a plea deal, Miller pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of murder. He has been in custody since his arrest in 2019 and was given credit for time already served. His sentence will run concurrently with a prior sentence related to separate charges in San Marcos.

According to court records, Miller made the guilty plea on April 9 and was sentenced the same day.
