- Cavalier1994Bethesda, MD490 contributionsExcellent trails (easy to moderate) that we enjoyed with a dog on a Sunday and the trails weren’t crowded. Highly Recommend the Needwood trail on the eastern side of the lake with its wonderful lakeside vistas and clearly marked trails. On the western side, we recommend the aptly named Westside Trail - this is further from the waters edge but has wider trails with lots of interesting vegetation and occasional views of the lake from a higher elevation. Not the biggest lake by far so you can go around the lake in 1-1.5 hrs. Although technically the trails do not loop around the entire lake on the northern tip, there is a pedestrian sidewalk with barriers next to the road that is outside the park property that people walk across from the west to the east side of the lake, and vice versa. The 3 picnic areas have ample shelters and picnic tables and plenty of accessible parking. We had a terrific time here.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- floraz625San Francisco, United States117 contributionsThis is a quite and relaxing place to escape from the noisy world. Trees, lake, reflections, color, boats and leaves are harmony like music, unlike the harsh we experience every day.
Boating, walking and picnic even napping is all great here.Written November 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A real center for the area!Written April 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ncoquill3 contributionsWe held our daughter's 5th birthday party here and it was excellent. There was plenty of space to play in and around the center until the party started. During the party, a naturalist facilitated a visit with some of the center's animals, led us on a short hike, then another staffer led a nature-based craft. After that we had the room for pizza (from Armands, which arrived on time and hot!) And cake. Several parents said this was the best birthday party they had been to. Cost was reasonable for a group of 15 kids - and the birthday kid gets a t-shirt too. Highly recommend for a party or just a visit!Written November 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- maggiemaggiesRockville, MD46 contributionsMy kids love this place. It is a bit pricey - especially when you have no idea what you are doing. Like when we paid for some climbs and my kids went up 3 times and were done in 7.5 minutes..... unless you can belay for your climber, you will pay a lot to go.Written July 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC6,628 contributionsI learned about this attraction from a poster I saw at the bulletin board of Lake Frank. One could walk/hike from Lake Frank using the trails or drive for 5-7 minutes to reach this attraction.
There are items on display inside the Center: Cave, furniture, stuffed animals, etc. Brochures regarding parks are FREE in front of the Receptionist Office. Clean restrooms are also available.
Outside are bird feeders, play area, a Shelter and Cages where animals are kept. It was not feeding time when I visited so I did not see them.
I will visit here again and watch the animals during their feeding time. Highly recommended to visit! - LSTMARKFort Worth143 contributionsI was doing some genealogical work in Montgomery County and got so carried away in Brookeville that I arrived at the Historical Society in Rockeville right at 4 pm. The door was unlocked, so I walked in and the staff person closing things up stayed for 10-15 extra minutes to show me how to use the Maryland Land Record locator files on the internet. I thanked her for the extra effort, went to my hotel and immediately found 6-7 previously unknown (to me) documents which I never would have found without that extra bit of effort on her part. I highly recommend the good people there!!Written April 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
