Ahla w sahla bi Beit Douma! This is your home away from home, a Beit to share with your family and friends. Douma is one of the last Lebanese preserved villages...A postcard photo in the heart of the Batroun Mountains. Beit Douma is an old, traditional Lebanese house that has been restored in a simple and subtle way. The oldest part of the ground floor dates back to the 18th century, and some of the original Summaqi stone floor remains in the library. The original Hharounn has also been preserved - a hole in the floor that when filled with hot coals heats the room. The library is filled with cook books and plenty of DVDs to choose from, which you are invited to project for a movie's night! The kitchen is an open and light-filled space where breakfast is served, and where home guests are invited to give a hand to prepare lunch or dinner. Guests are also welcome to help themselves from the tea and coffee counter, which always has one or two desserts at hand. Only one room is available on the garden floor with windows surrounded by jasmine and laurel. The first floor is centered around the Dar, which looks out towards an endless view of Tripoli and the sea through typical Lebanese triple arches. Five rooms are available on the first floor, each with its private bathroom. Beit Douma is surrounded by large terraces, gardens, and orchards. A Tabouneh (traditional mud-brick oven), hand-built by our bread queen Em Ali, is built on the kitchen terrace to make fresh Manakeesh. Yalla, we are waiting for you bi Beit Douma!

Beit Douma is one of the loveliest experiences you can have in Lebanon. The house is so carefully decorated and the garden so beautifully kept they give you a type of zen you would have thought extinct. The staff is so friendly and welcoming they literally make you feel at home, and the chef makes some of the finest food I’ve had in Lebanon (my mum’s included). Will definitely be returning as often as I visit Lebanon.

A hotel stay here is like staying at a wealthy friend's house. The rooms are cosy and well maintained though not luxurious. The first floor has a large foyer, dining area and living room. The are outdoor gardens.
The food is homemade and fantastic. Tasty and in large quantities, you never leave hungry. It's living a slice of modern Lebanese life in traditional surroundings.

A very relaxing place to spend the day in the garden .. beautiful weather and clear blue sky. The food was yummy in Tawlet douma buffet. Save some room for the dessert: knafeh and crème caramel are a must try

Drove for 1.5 hours anticipating a warm welcome, only to be rudely greeted by that young girl who didn't even stand up when we arrived, barely uttering a few words with her head glued to her phone. To be fair, she opened up a bit later on, but always seemed irritated and looking to end the conversation in a moments notice.... Although This is a guest house, we weren't treated as guests and never felt welcome... What a shame when a great idea gets ruined by a lazy unprofessional employee....

We were advised to visit the place by a wonderful girl called hana who is the manager in another rest house tawlet beirut that we were told belongs to the same owner.
When we reached there we loved the place but didn't get a proper welcome from the person in charge calla Sara.
By far she us the most unprofessional person I have ever met, reserved, absent minded, replies to questions mostly by I don't know or just one word, unfriendly and doesn't even bother to smile or make eye contact.
I simply think she hates her job.
Other than that everything was lovely. The rest of the staff was really nice and kind.
I would be happy to go back there if another manager is in charge

We visited Beit Douma in August 2018 without staying there for the night. To be honest, it was one of the best hotels I've seen in Lebanon in years, but that is because I appreciate places that preserved a purely traditional Lebanese decoration. I am sure you would adore it because it would be different and unique.
I will definitely come back for a stay soon. And while you're there, make sure to visit Douna, it is truly a beautiful village.

Beirut, Lebanon1,023 contribution379 helpful votesThis is far more than a bed and breakfast! A beautifully restored and modernized house that provides a very comfortable stay. We were welcomed by Zuhair who took good care of our group of 8. The rooms are very tastefully decorated with en suite bathrooms. Every detail in the house is a testimony to the passion of the owner and the designer. It was cold outside but the house was very warm and a fire was blazing in the living room. A special mention goes to the beautiful kitchen where breakfast is served. We woke up to a delicious breakfast of eggs, manakish, cheeses.... We had chosen to dine at Beit Douma and the meal was exquisite - Kibbe Labanieh, fassoulieh, shanklish, salad.... Excellent quality and delicious. An attractive dining table sits in prime location. You can watch a movie (a drawer filled with DVDs to choose from) play scrabble or backgammon... They even baked a lovely chocolate cake for our celebrations. I have to mention that the beds are so comfortable and warm.
"Perched on a hillside overlooking the village, Beit Douma beckons visitors with its imposing stone façade and distinctive yellow and red painted shutters. Once Inside, with its vaulted wooden ceilings, soaring arched windows and plentiful antiques Beit Douma transports the visitor into another world." a description from their website!

A beautiful quiet spot, off the beaten track 1000M high in the mountains behind Beirut, this old country house has been lovingly modernised and spruced up all in the space of 72 days. On arrival we were greeted and shown around. All the rooms are large and spacious and the bedrooms seem to have all had bathrooms added. We had two rooms overlooking the valley. We sat in the evening on the terrace and drank a complimentary bottle of good red wine with a selection of snacks available too. A large comfortable bed and mosquito killer helped make for a very restful night and a good local breakfast in the morning helped us on our way.

The food was unforgettable. The breakfasts, the cakes and the amazing evening feasts. The garden is a wonderful place to relax, listening to the fountain and wandering amongst the flowers, fruit trees, herbs and vegetables (some of which will find their way into your breakfast, dinner, even your pot of afternoon tea). The views across the valley are stupendous. The decor of the rooms is what you would call 'shabby chic'-absolutely charming. The staff are so friendly, helpful and eager to please. And there is a shop where you can buy some of the produce you may have just eaten.
