UAlbany has very good clubs for people who like to socialize. The academics are also good, and professors care about how you do.
I think you, Albany is a really good state school and really good for people who are from the city and don’t wanna go too far. There’s so many clubs on campus to join and things to do on campus. There’s so many people. The dorms are not the best, but it gets the job done. I would recommend living in the towers, not the low rise. And the food is pretty mid. The campus center food is generic and the diner hall is okay.Put yourself out there And making friends will be easier. I came to college not really confident and not in the right headspace bc of Covid but I left with a friend group that I would cherish forever and Memories that will last me a lifetime And I’m way more confident than what I was
UAlbany is a great school of diversity. I've met many people of various backgrounds on our large campus. The college hosts multiple events throughout the school year, from job fairs, parties, food for finals, etc. I've made many friends there and have connections with a few professors whom I greatly appreciate. The housing at UAlbany gets expensive, but living in the more expensive housing is worth it. You get your own room and can possibly have your own bathroom. The academics at UAlbany can improve, especially in the Computer Science department. There is a mix of professors who love their careers and want to see students succeed, and other professors who struggle to teach well and don't make themselves available outside of lecture time. There have been times when I felt like the workload was tough, but that depends on the classes you take and your time management. Overall, UAlbany is a great affordable school in New York and one of the best SUNY schools.
My overall experience at the University at Albany has been amazing so far. This University has so much to offer including efficient faculty and many different ways to get involved with the school. There are so many different clubs and organizations including greek life, athletics and on campus events that are available to all students. The professors at this institution are very helpful regarding helping students graduate and receive the credits they deserve.
I had a very good experience. I felt that I learned a lot during this time and they prepared us during the first freshman week so I felt a lot better about starting classes and attending events. The only thing I would change is the mathematics department. I feel that there needs to be improvements to the way mathematics is taught. My recommendation is to spend lots of outside time learning the material to get through the class. Besides this, my overall experience in Albany was great. Professors are understanding most of the time and there are lots of resources for every student to succeed.
I really liked how diverse UAlbany is! In my high-school, there wasn't as many people of color compared to UAlbany. I love how many clubs there are, I joined my first sport (Ultimate Frisbee) too! I like how much freedom I have and how big the campus is. There's lots of scenic places to sit down and chat with friends! I loved all the events I went to over the course of the two semesters of my Freshmen year. A lot of the staff are super nice and accommodating and I really enjoyed my classes.
This was a great school. You can find community and help everywhere. Just have to ask for it and advocate for yourself. Teaching wise some prof were not updating things from years on and aren’t passionate about teaching anymore. They weren’t trying to help you understand information in a different way even if you ask for help. Good things there’s other resources. It should be the goal to try to help students pass and retain the information if they are willing
I was highly involved on campus and it made for an enjoyable four years at UAlbany. I met some of my best friends and professors that cared about me and not just my grade.
At my university I found a community of people that I love and learn from constantly. I have been able to foster relationships with people I otherwise wouldn't have been able to if I didn't go to college. I found a home with the people at UAlbany and continue to grow with them.
Overall a good school. Im glad i choose it! Always I feel welcomed into the community and always feel like thete is someone to talk to or go to help for. Whether its professors, to staff, to student workers, everyone makes University at albany a positive place.
The campus bustled with extracurricular activities and clubs catering to diverse interests, offering ample opportunities for involvement and personal growth. People were generally friendly and approachable, fostering a sense of community. The variety of food options on campus was impressive, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. However, amidst the vibrancy, there was a disappointing lack of lenience and kindness exhibited by some professors. This aspect detracted from an otherwise enriching experience, highlighting the need for greater empathy and understanding in academic settings.
After spending a full year at this school and been an active student since the beginning of my time here, I would say that SUNY at Albany is an institution in which many should aim to attend. Throughout my months here, I've been a part of two clubs, went out and explored the party scene a few times, explored the general Albany area around the school. There are plenty of things to do, whether it be taking a stroll around campus, playing ping pong in the campus center, or taking the (free) buses that all students have access to for a trip downtown, there is never a time to get bored when you're a Great Dane. Regarding academics, our school is a well-rounded institution with many different areas of study to focus in, as well as many programs that will guide you to essentially any desired career. With free tutoring, library access until midnight (and sometimes later during finals season), and a staff filled with understanding professors, TAs, and advisors that will help you succeed.
Overall, my experience with university has been highly enriching. The breadth of academic programs and resources available is impressive, allowing students to explore their interests and passions deeply. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, often going the extra mile to ensure student success. Additionally, the vibrant campus life and diverse student community contribute to a dynamic learning environment.
However, there are areas that could be improved. The cost of tuition and associated expenses can be prohibitive for some students, limiting access to higher education. Furthermore, while the academic curriculum is comprehensive, there could be more emphasis on practical skills and real-world applications to better prepare students for their future careers. Overall, though, the university provides a valuable and transformative experience for those who have the opportunity to attend.

My time at UAlbany was altered due to the fact that my freshman year was cut short because of the pandemic. But that doesn't take away my feelings about the school. It's got a big party scene off campus, and pretty good classes, depending on your major. Plus, there's always something going on
I feel comforted by choosing to attend college here, it has opened up my world view and gave me experiences I will always be grateful for. I think this college was best case scenario for me.
Being at UAlbany I've never had a dull moment. The campus is beautiful, I've been able to form good and trustworthy relationships with the people that I live with, and some from the classes I attend to. In the beginning although my grades were pretty good, I wasn't exactly taking classes that I had an interest in so I didn't have much motivation, but with this second semester that I am currently in, I enjoy the classes are taking, and I am completely interested. The campus event are really fun and even the parties that aren't held on campus are pretty enjoyable too, depending on the day.
Overall, I enjoy my experiences with University at Albany. The school offers many academic resources for almost all subjects such as university tutoring and the writing center in the library. This school also have a very vibrant social status. There is always something to do and it's easy to make friends if you simply just go outside. The RA's also host events sometimes that are fun. My experience at this school thus far has exceeded my expectations.
Albany was something of suitcase school. On the weekends and holidays, the campus would be quiet and empty because most student lived nearby and would head home. So it can feel pretty lonely.
Although I am an online student, I do visit the campus often so I have become well versed in the life of SUNY Albany. I believe overall it is a very solid, inclusive school with a lot to offer. I am a History major with a minor in Russian, and so far my classes have been very helpful with my career goals. I think Albany is a great place to live for young professionals! It is a relatively safe space to live, yet it has a vibrant social life. There are lots of clubs and organizations to choose from, so there is always something to get involved with. I think University at Albany, SUNY is a wonderful choice for upcoming freshman.
I liked Ualbany. I made lifelong freinds, and had such a fun time. School and work was tough but all for that degree.
