J.L. Langley said her first words at six months of age. By the time she was a year old, she was talking in complete sentences and, as most of her family and friends will tell you, she hasn’t shut up since. After becoming an accomplished motormouth, J.L. set out to master other avenues of self-expression, including art, and dance.

She attended the University of Texas, where she majored in art, and worked as a dance instructor on the side. Her love of artistic expression in dance landed her a career in which she taught and performed for over twenty-five years. After marriage to her junior high school sweetheart and the birth of their children, J.L. decided to try her hand at writing. To date, she has several successful novels and a handful of novellas to her credit.

She lives in Texas, where she was born and raised, with her real life hero, their rowdy two boys, two even rowdier German Shepherds and ten goldfish, one of which is named Jaws. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found with her nose in a book, appreciating the communication skills of other writers.

A wonderful love story

I just finished reading "The Tin Star" for the fourth time and I enjoy it more each time I read it. The main characters Ethen and Jamie are very well developed and by the time you finish the book, you fell like you know them and they have become friends. This is a beautifully written love story and it is such a pleasure to see the love and caring that grows between Ethen and Jamie. Love like theirs is something that is hard to find and the book leaves you with a very satisfied and warm feeling. The story line is well developed and the plot carries through the entire book. I highly recommend "The Tin Star" to anyone who enjoys m/m romances. This one is a real keeper that you will want to read over again.

Four and a half stars! I hope this author writes some more books and soon! The two cowboy principal characters are both hot and sexy and fun and their relationship is credible and even more fun. They both have a strong playful side and find their relationship deepened not only by their deep attraction to each other and by their strong, clear and unshakable support for each other in some real crises but also by their "chemistry," much of which consists of having fun with/enjoying being with each other (not to mention hot sex). The crises in the plot were credible and gripping. My only complaint (and the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five) is that there wasn't much conflict BETWEEN the two guys that had to be resolved. The relationship came too easily, though it was partly explained by the fact that the two guys had known each other well (and been attracted to each other) for most of their lives. As a comparison, I gave "Bareback" by Chris Owen five stars and just couldn't quite rate this book as highly as Owen's masterpiece. Still, this is a GREAT read: lots of fun, hot sex, moving romance, several good characters (though the villains were all two dimensional) and a gripping plot. Highly recommended!

What I love about JL Langley's novels -I guess what I love about all of my favorite m/m romance writers- is how perfect they make their worlds. There is the man who is lost and the man who finds him and brings their lives together creating a world where they are happy and fulfilled in eachothers love for oneanother. I love how she creates the perfect happy ending that for some reason just stays with me. In the back of my mind they are just going on and on, together. It makes me happy, and in this day-and-age, who doesnt need something or somethings to make you smile? Tin Star was not a let down. I had to wait a while for this one, because it was on Kindle for the longest and I am against e-books. I dont mind other people enjoying their kindle or thier Ipad, etc. BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE of the tangible paperbooks that will last forever while a simple magnetic pulse or a really good hacker can wipe out digital books in a single stroke. But this is not about e-books, this is about the brilliant gay-romance novelist JL Langley and her book Tin Star. This book is about a 21year old man named Jamie who is a texas rancher born and bred. Oneday he decides to tell his father and eldest brother that he is gay. His father flips out, but his brother is too shocked to react. The Dad acts like a total ass, and does and says some pretty f'd up things to his son, including but not limited to, throwing the boy out of the house. Jamie doesnt have anywhere to go and leaves his fathers house with nothing more than the clothes on his back. Then his cell phone rings. Ethan is a 32year old rancher living in the same texas town and just so happens to be the best friend of Jamie's eldest brother. Ethan invites Jamie to live with him until Jamie gets on his feet, and this is where it all begins. The two fall in love -although they had been interested in eachother for years- and the story just takes you on a journey of love, laughter and the everyday lives of these two beautiful Texans. Ethan is tough and protective. He is generous and he loves Jamie or as he calls him "BlueEyes". Jamie is a rancher that knows the business and had no problem holding his own on the "TINSTAR" which is the name of Ethan's ranch. He is a sweetheart, that doesnt want to hurt anyone, but so many have no problem hurting him. He is loving and forgiving and self sacrificing. He is also brave and enduring and loyal to Ethan whom he calls "Cowboy". In the end Cowboy and BlueEyes find happiness together as their love evolves and their businesses expand. Great book, I cant wait until all her others hit paperback. I want to collect JL Langley's work and just sit back and stare at the books on my bookshelf and remember how they all made me smile at sometime in my life.

Was für eine süße, romantische Liebesgeschichte. Ich liebe J.L.Langley und ich weiß auch warum. Eigentlich bin ich nicht so der Westernfan, aber das Buch hat mich umgehaun.

Ethan ist eigentlich der allerbeste Freund von Jamie's großem Bruder, aber als Jamie sich zuhause outet und von seinem Vater sehr rüde vor die Türe gesetzt wird, ist es Ethan, welcher die Hand ausstreckt und Jamie auffängt. Jamie war immer nur der kleine Bruder und das Anhängsel, Zeit dass Ethan merkt, dass Jamie ein Mann geworden ist und ein verdammt attraktiver dazu. Es trifft sich gut, dass Ethan ebenfalls auf Jungs steht und nur noch nicht geoutet ist. Ein wenig Verwirrung ist also vorprogrammiert und sehr süß in der Auflösung.

Sehr viele Widerstände, Anfeindungen bis hin zum Mordversuch und sogar die mysteriöse Abneigung des Vaters gegen Jamie werden überwunden und aufgeklärt. Sehr schön und flüssig geschrieben. Man kann mit allen die zur Ranch und zur engeren Familie gehören, mitfiebern und mitleiden. Wie schön, dass es ein Happyend gibt.

This was a delightful romance. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down until I'd finished. The author presents characters one can like and understand and situations that are very realistic. The romance is beautifully told with just enough detail to match the growing connection between the two main characters. I found myself transported into the story and would have liked to meet the characters in person. At the same time, while there is plenty of hot, steamy sex, we don't get bogged down with physical details but are given just enough information for our imaginations to soar. (Just one thing though: sure, I know everything is bigger in Texas but 9 inches? That's a bit of a stretch, even for that state isn't it?) It's a story that I'll read over again every now and then just because it's well written and the charactyers are so very believable. If you want a warm love story of two people who work to overcome some pretty difficult obstacles, and are a bit of a romantic yourself, this book is for you.

This was a welcome introduction to an author whose works I have continued to enjoy. I like the little touches, like the hat-stealing horse! They help to make the story authentic.
