Alice Coltrane With Strings – World Galaxy

What a stunning record. The three galaxy pieces are just wonderful.

Honestly, these 2015? , 180g, back to black IMPULSE reissues sound and look great. The only reason ppl turn their nose up at them is because they aren't and were not marketed with a bunch of BS audiophile snake oil gimmicks. Don't let snobbery prevent you from owning good music at a good price. Believe it or not some of them sounds better than the OG's and as good as more expensive "audiophile" pressings.

Why has a separate artist ("Alice Coltrane With Strings") been created? This should be categorized under Alice's other releases. Some people overthink this stuff. :-)

I don’t have a 1972 pressing with which to compare, so I’ll just throw in my ten cents on this reissue.
It’s not a bad pressing. The sound is dynamic with good highs and lows. A little surface noise/static. The gatefold artwork is very nicely reproduced. The paper inner sleeve is rubbish and should be replaced with an anti-static cover.
All in all this is a decent reissue and well worth the $25 I paid for a mint copy. The equivalent 1972 release (NM/NM) will cost about five times this at the time of writing.

How does this pressing sound? Does anybody know where the LP was pressed?

Sound is pretty so-so (a little muffled/recessed - doesn't jump out of the speakers like an original 70s Impulse does. I haven't compared this to another copy of the same record, but that's just compared to original early 70s Impulse pressings). Vinyl pressing quality is decent, thick and clean, and the sleeve is a gatefold, but Euro-style thinner/glossier rather than heavy stock.

Mine came with a"Back to Black" series sticker and download code (!).
