Loneliness on the run Lyrics

[Verse 1]
How would you like to show me how it's done?
Loneliness is always on the run
Never again will you fear anyone
'Cause loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is almost done

[Verse 2]
I never thought that I'd meet anyone
As lonely as the shadow of the sun
Yeah, I never thought I'd fire the starting gun
Loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is almost done

[Chorus]
Covered in dirt, my feelings hurt
Yeah, this time for real
And under a stone, I found the home
Of something appealing
Washed up, down on my luck
I found everything I need

[Verse 3]
How would you like to show me how it's done?
Loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is always on the run
Loneliness is almost done
[Instrumental Bridge]

[Chorus]
Covered in dirt, my feelings hurt
Yeah, this time for real
And under a stone, I found the home
Of something appealing
Washed up, down on my luck
I found everything I need

What did Metronomy say about "Loneliness on the run"?
Genius Answer

Joseph Mount:

“Loneliness on the run” is a song about being far away from people that you love. And wanting them to try and manage their bad feelings. I wrote something about visualising your loneliness, or your anger, and then throwing it out the window or chasing it away. So, that was the idea. At the end of this song, I guess the album does shift a gear and it becomes a little less introspective and starts forgetting the bad stuff.
