RIAA presents 11 Platinum and Gold Awards to Cuban labels. The big winner: Planet Records

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), presented several Platinum and Gold Awards to Cuban recording artists. A note published by Cuba Newspaper points out that artists such as Bebeshito, Charly and Johayron, and Fixty Ordara and Ja Rulay, won some 11 awards that endorse the success achieved in their young careers.

The RIAA website announced that Bebeshito's (Oniel Columbié) three Gold Awards are for the singles Hacha, Imagine with me and Hose. The aforementioned note specifies that the duo Charly & Johayron (Carlos Coronado and Johayron Amores) received three Platinum Awards for their hits. My favorite place, My liar and Cupid (in collaboration with El Taiger -José Miguel Carvajal-). The duo also won two Gold Awards for Roller coaster and Funimate (shared with Pokercito, another representative of the cast).

Fixty Ordara (Jordan Sainz) and Ja Rulay (Ja Rule Álvarez Díaz), a Cuban delivery duo that broke up a few months ago, received a Platinum Award for their success. Everything is OK. They also earned two Gold Awards for their singles Go far away and For you (Pornosotros 2) (shared with Wampi -Dasiel Mustelier- and Wow Popy -Yerson Isbel Manzano-). Wow Popy won a solo Golden Award for his version of Hold me tightthe classic of the late Mexican singer and composer Juan Gabriel.

Behind many of these hits we find Planet Records, the powerful record company headed by Italian Roberto Ferrante, which partially or totally manages the careers of artists such as Bebeshito, Charly and Johayron, and Fixty Ordara and Ja Rulay (now separately).

Planet Records was also behind the Gold Award won by the single Tell me who is thisThe duo was formed by L Kimii (Osniel Covarrubia) and El Chulo (Abel Díaz). Before emigrating to the U.S., Covarrubia was one of the members of Kimiko y Yordy (Yordano Ulacia), a duo that also recently received two more Gold Awards for their singles You killed me and The championThe representative and producer Michel Boutic (Michel Aguilera) is also credited.

Orlenis 22K (Orlenis Prieto Sanchez), another young Cuban deliveryman, won a Gold Award with his song "Orlenis 22K" (Orlenis Prieto Sanchez). Plan B. Lenier (Álvaro Lenier Mesa), Divan (Ivan Sotelo) and July Roby (Julio César Castellanos), other exponents of urban music on the island, also won a Gold Award for their collaboration. Owner of what?. Lenier is one of the contemporary Cuban artists who has received the most recognition from the American music industry, accumulating 10 certifications in just five years.

The RIAA Gold and Platinum Awards Program recognizes successful music albums and singles that have more than 50% of the lyrics in Spanish. Unlike the traditional RIAA Gold Record, which rewards high levels of sales in the general U.S. market regardless of language, this recognition focuses specifically on the Latin market and Spanish-language music.

This recognition measures the commercial impact of Latin music in today's industry driven by both physical sales and downloads as well as streaming consumption. According to the RIAA, Platinum Awards celebrate sales of at least 60,000 certified copies, while Gold Awards celebrate sales of at least 30,000 copies.

Receiving a Gold or Platinum Latin certification from the RIAA is a great achievement that recognizes the sales success and popularity of an artist or album within the specific Spanish-speaking music market. It is a parallel but more specific award than the general Gold Record.

Cast, as a subgenre of urban music born in Cuba, has gained popularity during the last few years. The boom of this music, identifiable by the presence of the rhythmic pattern known as clave cubana, is due to the work developed by artists such as the recently awarded.
