- 3wilddogsWestminster, CO139 contributionsThe octagon basilica is beautiful and unique. They're not sure the Emperor Charlemagne actually sat on the throne on the 2nd floor, but it dates from his time period.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - springleringMarietta, GA581 contributionsYou know it’s special when the whole building is a giant vault. Never seen anything like it. It was a work of modern day art in an of itself.
Why? Because the contents are absolutely priceless. Aachen was blessed with fine craftsmen and these pieces are the best of the best. Some of the reliquaries defy imagination.
You know, we think we are so much smarter and knowledgeable than people who lived 1,000 years ago. But I defy a modern craftsman to creat works if this standard. It’s just hard to wrap your head around how they managed this.
BTW, if you’re headed in that direction, Paderborn has a fabulous treasury as well, along with a stunning collection of medieval church embroideries.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - deathracerMontreal, Canada2,231 contributionsI visited the Aachen city hall (Rathaus) on a Saturday afternoon. It surprised me how few people were there. I assume most of the tourists were at the cathedral.
The entry price is modest, and I downloaded a free self-guided 2D tour on my phone, which allowed me to point my phone at various paintings and furniture to see the story behind them. The app is really well done and highlights specific elements of a painting and tells the details of only that element of the painting. The stories are in text. If accompanied audio description was included that would really be a nice improvement.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - springleringMarietta, GA581 contributionsIt’s a chocolate grocery store. Overwhelming choices. Look at the colored banners above, and choose the ones with the largest discount. We came the week after Easter and Easter candies were 80% off.
Popular things, like the Lindor balls are lightly discounted, so seek your values.
The Easter mixes we got included some balls, and were a true value.
The highlight here is the unusual flavors. We got a bag of cheesecake Lindor balls, some lime yogurt bars, even some dragonfruit bars.
Even though we count calories and watch our diets carefully, we cut loose, and have been scarfing a bag of Easter pralines down. Thankfully, most the rest are presents, except for a couple we’ve set aside to enjoy on the plane home.
You could easily lose your mind here. We saw women staggering under the load of huge boxes of chocolate they were trying to get back to their cars.
Worth a quick stop if you’re visiting the Dom and historic centrum of Aachen. Only a short drive away.Written April 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food is incredible, the stalls are stunning and the drinks are awesome. - AMIA778Seville, Spain1,482 contributionsInteresting look inside a rich family's mansion that is kept like a time-capsule. Well-furnished with many interesting objects/household items, English info signage in every room, but lots of stairs. It's on the city's "6 for 6" museum card. Worth a visit.Written December 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Said Al-SowaidiDoha, Qatar154 contributionsGood shopping mall, it has everything, but there is a hidden gem there called “Beste Freunde Cafe”, this is a fantastic cafe offering ice cream, waffle to die for , really light and fresh, just made in cloud seven, they also offer grilled sandwiches.
The coffee is excellent, the service by a young Lebanese lady was exceptionally warm, she put all her efforts in the job.
Maybe there is another cafe carrying the same name nearby, or maybe being the first to review it.
