Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru solidified his position as the leading run-scorer by adding 33 runs against the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 Eliminator on Wednesday. Despite amassing 741 runs from 15 matches this season, the former RCB captain will not have another opportunity to bat, as RCB's campaign concluded with a four-wicket defeat to RR.
A significant factor in RCB's loss was Riyan Parag, who ascended to the third position among the season's top run-scorers. Parag, contributing 36 runs in the match, has now accumulated 567 runs from 13 games this season.
Yuzvendra Chahal advanced in the Purple Cap race, securing the sixth position with 18 wickets this season. He is set to play next in Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk. In contrast, Harshal Patel remains the leading contender for the Purple Cap, dominating with 24 wickets. Despite his team, Punjab Kings, failing to qualify for the playoffs, Patel's impressive performance keeps him in pole position.
Virat Kohli is the orange cap holder and Harshal Patel is the purple cap holder as of today.
