We've gotten hundreds of posts in the last few days of screenshots of scam texts being sent to a group of phone numbers. (And so, so many posters haven't obscured the phone numbers, which means the post gets taken down. 😡)
Yes, it's a scam.

my favorite is morons in the group who reply STOP
as if that's gonna do anything other than possibly spark people to scream stop at each other.
FFS, scammers need to be found and sent to jobs where they can be productive and never be allowed to touch technology again. some sort of productive farm prison.
I actually had a pretty funny thread going in one of mine with someone replying “stop” to each and every message until I replied “go” which ended the fun
Truly. The government or the phone companies or someone should Frank Abignale a few dozen of these people to make shit better.

I’ll get these - but the sender is a gmail account sent out to 20 consecutive numbers…. At&t weirdly doesn’t catch them as robo calls or scams and yet you’d think it would
It's so fucking annoying I've gotten like 5 texts from them today
On my Android phone, Google's spam detection has recognized it as spam every single time. I still select to manually block the sending number and mark it as spam so hopefully whatever machine learning stuff Google has working behind the scenes knows it is doing the right thing. I still get a notification, but it is just the one saying it sent it to spam.

There’s no point, they spoof the number. But you can’t post phone numbers here anyway.
