Tuscaloosa police officers are investigating after a 62-year-old man was found dead Tuesday.

Officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to Alcoholics Anonymous, 2025 Jack Warner Parkway, on a report of a suspicious death, said Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. The victim was identified as Russell Thomas Andrews.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has assumed command of the investigation.

Kennedy said investigators believe the death is the result of foul play.

Investigators are searching for a man who was last seen around 10 p.m. Tuesday for questioning in connection with Andrews' death.

The man being sought is homeless and has been in the Tuscaloosa area for several weeks.

He is described as a white male, about 50 years old with dark hair and eyes. He's about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.  Kennedy said the man wears glasses and often wears a soft hat of some sort. He may also be missing toes on one or both feet and walks with a limp.

Kennedy said the man may be known as “J.P.”  and his last name may be Patrick.

Anyone who has information about the man being sought is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121.
