Inside Billy Joel's Magical Wedding to Alexis Roderick

Billy Joel pulled out all the stops for his July 4 wedding to Alexis Roderick.

The singer, 66, and his bride, 33, threw an epic bash for 40 of their closest friends and family – and PEOPLE has the exclusive details from the magical night.

The Food
Guests feasted on locally harvested pearl oysters, jumbo spot prawns and chilled Maine lobster, courtesy of Mark Spiegel of Mark of Excellence Distinctive Catering. For the carnivores, there was also a family-style “steakhouse” dinner of carved porterhouse steak, the singer’s favorite caramelized onions, grilled tuna, and white truffle mac and cheese.

For dessert: a yummy selection including classic crème brûlée, mini lemon meringue pies, and a peanut butter and Oreo ice cream bomb.

The Decor
After the ceremony, guests retreated to a tented area on the grounds of Joel’s Center Island, New York, estate.

Open garden roses, hanging amaranthus, willow branches, handmade garlands and wild smilax vine from Petals Floral and Party Design adorned the space. The focal point of the dining area was an illuminated fountain with a base decorated with handmade rose garlands.

The event, which was planned by Scott Parrish of Thomas Preti Events, was capped off with sky lanterns and fireworks that lit up the night sky.

The Guests
The ceremony was officiated by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, 57, and guests included Joel’s daughter, singer/songwriter Alexa Ray, 29, her boyfriend, the restauranteur Ryan Gleason, and actor Kevin James, 50.

The singer and Roderick – an accomplished equestrian and a former Morgan Stanley executive – have been together since 2009 and are expecting their first child together, a girl, this summer.
