Superintendent Dr. English is a lifelong resident of Monmouth County and a proud graduate of Neptune High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in Health Science and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University, a Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification from Jersey City University, a master’s degree in School Leadership and Management from Georgian Court University, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University. Describing her career, Dr. English says that working in education is simply amazing. Amazing because Dr. English feels that she was born to be a teacher and knew that education would be her profession from the very early age of five years old. Growing up, and during her adult years, Dr. English credits her father William and her mother Anna for teaching her about respect and responsibility, integrity, and compassion, and to always model a strong work ethic, core values and most of all, to remember the importance of family.
As an educator, Dr. English describes herself as a compassionate, innovative teacher and administrative leader with over 30 years of experience in the field of education. She often states that the success she has achieved throughout her career in education has been possible because she has always been fortunate to be connected to wonderful people. Dr. English appreciatively credits her accomplishments both in her personal and professional life because of the love and support she has had from her wonderful family and lifelong friends, as well as from the endless number of colleagues who share her love for education.
In 1990, Dr. English began her career as a Health and Physical Education Teacher, as a coach, and as the founder and advisor of the Student Leadership Committee. Throughout Dr. English’s time as a young educator, she placed a high priority on working with young adults teaching them the importance of service, and how to demonstrate the characteristics of a model citizen both in the school, and out in the local communities.
After Dr. English’s time as a Health and Physical Education Teacher and coach, she began her career at the Monmouth County Vocational School District where she followed her calling to pursue her training and certification in Special Education. While teaching in a career and technical education program, Dr. English began her work with special needs students where her passion for the profession and working with diverse learners further guided her dedication and commitment as an educator, and during the final 10 years, she worked as a classroom teacher.
In her previous position, Dr. English worked as the Assistant Superintendent of the Burlington County Institute of Technology and the Burlington County Special Services School District. While working at BCIT and BCSSSD, Dr. English had oversight of the vertical and horizontal alignment of curricula, programming, compliance with federal and state mandates and local requirements for a Pre-K through post 21 age special needs population, and high-tech career and technical education and post-secondary adult programs for the Institute of Technology.
While working as an assistant superintendent, Dr. English worked collaboratively with her fellow colleagues in creating a 1:1 Chromebook environment for BCIT prior to the pandemic with the assistance of a partnership with Google. She supported the development of curriculum and instruction and appropriate apps to support the shift to remote and hybrid learning and has created pathways for various career and technical educational programs to engage in remote technical instruction using VR, AR, and artificial intelligence. Dr. English positioned both BCIT and BCSSSD for their involvement in many professional organizations and with the New Jersey Department of Education, and Department of Labor and has brought many resources, business partners, and new programs to her districts to address emergent in demand career paths. To this end, Dr. English was also engaged in a process to be certified by the federal government to provide financial aid to adult population programs, and to steer one of a few institutions in the State if not the country to offer such a program other than colleges and universities. Dr. English worked to design new career pathways and programs to create platforms for apprenticeships and school-to-work opportunities for students in both districts. On the operational side, Dr. English facilitated program budget planning and had strategic oversight of professional development, New Jersey Department of Education compliance for the evaluation process, and grant writing management which included a focus on BCIT’s implementation of Perkins V funding for CTE programs.
During the beginning of her tenure as the Shore Regional High School District Superintendent in July of 2022, Dr. English began the implementation of the CORE 4 Committees, the SRHS Superintendent’s Council, Dr. English’s Coffee House, and the design of district goals and initiatives to support various professional development programs which includes opportunities for faculty and staff to earn and guide learning for students to obtain stackable credentials, and to assist educators in initiating the infusion of student-centered, real world, learning applications. With a keen eye, Dr. English also continues to have her sights on new opportunities for the application and acceptance of grant funding, a focus on community engagement, academics and advisory, and a school culture where the importance of leading and embracing equity and diversity is a top priority. At the core, Dr. English is a lifelong learner and continues to celebrate her love for the field of education. She has created opportunities to support the development of Career and Technical Education and to design events and programs at the district level such as Construction Apprenticeship Expos, Program Advisory Committees, and by creating district pilot programs to support the infusion of technology learning resources. Dr. English takes great pride by honoring her students and fellow educators by sharing best practices in her various YouTube videos titled CTE in Motion, and with the launch of her new series at Shore Regional High School titled, “Pride, Tradition, Success”. As Superintendent, Dr. English continues to develop teacher preparation and mentoring curricula and programs, and she values her work in the evaluation and implementation of new instructional technology, curriculum resources, and pedagogical themes. She is a leader in the development of new programmatic offerings aligned to core content subjects, and CTE dual enrollment articulation opportunities designed to support student learning and a successful transition from school to career. In addition to Dr. English’s years as a classroom teacher and administrator, she was nominated and chosen to represent the Monmouth County Vocational School District on the Career Readiness Consortium for the New Jersey Department of Education. Her work with the consortium enabled her to actively participate in the development of model curriculum for the New Jersey Educator Resource Exchange. Enthusiastically, Dr. English continues to model lifelong learning through her involvement in various professional development and school law training opportunities affiliated with the Association for Career and Technical Education where she was a presenter at the ACTE National Conference in 2021. She is an active member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Learning Forward, the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, the New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools, and as a member and professional development presenter for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. Also, in her role as the former Director for the Career & Technical Education, Certificate of Eligibility, Educator Preparation Program at Brookdale Community College, Dr. English continues to share her depth of knowledge and train others to embrace her love for education through her ability to design and implement teacher training programs, and by working with industry professionals, transitioning into the field of education.

She has served as a member of the New Jersey Department of Education Career and Technical Education Teacher Preparation Advisory Board, as a member of the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution Advisory Board at Rowan College at Burlington County, the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce Women’s Business Network, and as the east coast representative and panelist for a professional webinar and podcast series facilitated by Transeo to support educators in lifelong learning and interactive learning experiences.
