In an unprecedented turn of events, Bandai Namco is not only adding a card game to the highly beloved Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot but also a fully functioning online multiplayer in an upcoming update. The news comes provided via the most recent issue of V-Jump magazine, redistributed courtesy of Ryokutya2089.

The magazine excerpt not only highlights these additions but also confirms Bandai Namco's recent statements concerning their upcoming DLC. According to developers, Beerus will be far from any walk in the park.

It's unclear exactly how the new card game will function in the game, though judging from the likes of The Witcher 3, it will operate in a similar vein to Gwent. Cards can be attained by battling and winning against various opponents across the open-world map. Bandai could even go so far as to make their in-game Dragon Ball Z trading cards collectibles of a sort, challenging players to gather them all in tandem to their quest to ascend beyond level 100. The cards will even tie into the forthcoming multiplayer aspect, utilized against other players in online battles.

It's unclear if the online portion will translate into combat battles, akin to the likes of Xenoverse, though the V-Jump article did go on to reveal more about the upcoming Power Awakens DLC. The Super Saiyan God transformations will be unlocked by training against Whis, which will then allow players to go up against the menacing God of Destruction. The developers themselves detailed how Beerus will operate in-game. With an exceedingly large power level of 250, the feline god will be anything but easy. The developers went on to relate how even they had trouble defeating him, averaging at a whopping one win in every 10 attempts.

Having sold over 1.5 million copies in less than a month of its release, it's clear Kakarot has had an everlasting effect on fans. This will only be expounded upon with the release of the first Power Awakens DLC, available this coming Spring, followed closely by yet another Power Awakens and an entire story arc, of which many fans are hoping is an introduction to the Tournament of Power.

There's no official release date for the Card Game and online multiplayer modes just yet, though it's highly probable they'll arrive alongside the first DLC release. With a relatively long wait ahead and ample time on one's hands, it's high time to get training. Beerus isn't going down without a fight, even with Super Saiyan God at one's disposal.
