It's a great mining museum with lots to see. They also offer mine tours. I went on the standard one which lasted over 1 hour (nearly 2 on my visit), this was great with lots of information from Rob the tour guide on the route round. I definitely want to do the extended tours sometime in the near future, too. Cafe on site as well as great walks nearby.

This is an awesome place to take both children and adults alike. A trip down the mine and museum is well worth the experience. Roger, Alan and Les, in fact all the team are fantastic, knowledgeable, entertaining and they make the whole thing come alive. Please visit the café wonderful food and drinks to keep you going. All the people work here as volunteers and they are exceptional at what they do. Thank you so much.

Extended mine tour. Our tour guide was Dave, a volunteer and ex miner, he had great knowledge of the site, was able to show us area which sometimes flood, or have previously collapsed and been repaired. Was a really in depth tour, I would highly recommend

We went there last weekend and since it was winter it was just the short mine tour, which was plenty long enough. It should be interesting to go back in summer when the longer tour is on. The whole thing was fascinating and very informative, and the guide was excellent. The small museum was a bit of a mish mash, but also very interesting, but it's the mine tour that makes the visit.

Great centre tucked away in Staffordshire. A heritage steam railway and coal mine and museum are both available, the mine tour is highly recommended the staff are friendly and knowledgeable ex miners but it can get chilly down there so wear something warm, I was lucky enough the amazing lady at reception had a spare jumper I could borrow… nice cafe on site and there are walks and plenty of nature in the surrounding area if you are feeling energetic. Animal friendly as there were loads of people walking their dogs. All in all a great day out highly recommended

Amazing. Friendly and helpful staff, very knowledgeable about the history. Train is fun, great picnic and play areas, 2 great gift shops, stunning food from the canteen and the mine tour is so detailed and amazing, the guides really know their stuff being all ex miners themselves. Plenty to see and do for young families or for older generations, including an amazing museum.

Extended Mine Tour Myself and a friend are both ex Miners and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Started the experience with a brew in the canteen, a short safety video, then the Lamphouse, gloves and kneepads donned, checks put in and off we went. Charlie our guide, has a wealth of knowledge in coal mining, local history, geology and puts all this across in an entertaining manner. Whether you have some understanding of mining or none at all, Charlie communicates everything in an easy way to comprehend and questions are encouraged. There are regular stops during the tour to catch your breath (have 5) for us old uns, when Charlie will regale the group with another tale. I recommend the gloves and knee pads they offer for the tour as it is a wet clay floor in several places and there is some crawling in low parts. For ex Colliers they will understand when I say the smell of the pit is recognisable, particularly in the return airways. A 2 hour tour was closer to 2.5 hours, yet time flew by. A small, manageable group of 6 meant nobody missed out on anything. One thing that struck a chord with me was when Charlie mentioned he'd asked his Grandsons about coal and they hadn't got a clue what he was talking about. 2 generations and our proud history is in danger of being forgotten. Charlie soon put that right and they both thoroughly enjoyed it too, particularly their lasting piece of memorabilia, Charlie will explain that part when you visit. We also had a look in the surface gallery, this used to be the Training Gallery at Kellingley Colliery, which was transported to Apedale and rebuilt a few years ago. This can be viewed by people unable to go underground, it's suitable for wheelchair access. There is also a canteen with an excellent choice of food and a welcome brew after your shift. We shall definitely be returning, as we hadn't factored in enough time to go around the well stocked museum. The Volunteers and trustees are doing an amazing job of keeping our proud heritage alive, can't recommend this experience highly enough. For those with children, pick a weekend when the steam trains are running and make a day of it.

Lovely little theatre with a circular seating plan so sometimes the action isn’t always in front of you. Building is well maintained and everything just works well. Small car park, but the Polite Vicar is next door with another car park their. Well worth a visit.

Great visit to this theatre..Pleasant small gift shop in the entrance, restaurant/ cafe upstairs and bar with plenty of seating. Friendly staff throughout. You can take drinks into the auditorium provided they are in plastic glasses. View from the balcony was excellent. I'd definitely return to watch future things performed here.

The New Vic is always a great experience. This time around, we were enthralled by The Card presented by Claybodies Theatre Company. The atmosphere is always a friendly and relaxed one and the public areas ,such as the upstairs bar ,are light, airy and full of bustle. For local productions and national touring productions and artists, The New Vic is venue well worth the visit.

Really nice place. Great food, bar, gift shop. Brilliant entertainment/ theatre. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Nice atmosphere. And safe.

Went to see beauty and the beast. Kids and adults really enjoyed it, a really interesting adaptation. Theatre itself is great, cafe and bar not too crowded during the interval, able to park easily.

Went to see The Card and had a marvelous evening, great performance by all and wonderful brass band complimenting the play superbly. Thanks to the whole cast and crew for putting on a brilliant show!

Ive been going here for years and seen many productions. All fabulous 👌 The theatre is comfortable with ample room. Also the staff are very helpful and friendly. They facilitate for people who have mobility issues. The restaurant is great with a good choice of tasty food and selection of drinks.

Wow just beautiful loved everything about this Theatre, the decor, the circular stage and seating, and what a show 👏 went to see uncle Eric amazing performance 👏 made me laugh and the music was just brilliant. I would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again for sure.

A really lovely theatre, had food pre show which was excellent. Went to see Colin Hall and Bob Harris in a talk regarding songs The Beatles donated to fellow performers which was really interesting. Would definitely recommend this relaxing and intimate venue.

Great museum with lots of nice displays and local history. The old street displays on the 1st floor are really fun too.

Excellent establishment for learning about the history of Newcastle-under-Lyme (aka 'The Castle'). It has paintings of people and buildings; there are stairs, ceilings, poems, shops, local arts, charters, statues, busts, windows, books, videos, lights, walls, arms, tables, chairs, floors, doors, a cafe, a reception, a garden and other things.

Great day out for the kids. Had an activity teaching then to look and learn for a prize. Great attention to detail at the museum lots to see. Staff are nice and most of all. FREE 2 hours to kill with the kids

The Brampton is a lovely park area and at the moment the area just in front of the museum is in full bloom. The variety of flowering plants/trees is incredible. The scents as I walked through are beautiful. The new cafe is just lovely, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The fact that they have a gluten free cake available is just a bonus. Thank you guys.

What a little gem of a place, and it's free to enter too. An old style museum but still so interesting for little ones, my son is 7, with the treasure hunts and other activities available. Friendly and informative staff who advised they host talks for adults too. Lovely cafe and gift shop. Good outdoor areas to burn off some energy too; sand pit, gardens and park with train track.

The Brampton Museum is a fantastic place both for individuals and families. There is always something going on! They always have a unique exhibition on, they have a fantastic coffee shop with wonderful cakes and more and they do regular workshops as well. It's great for children as it's educational and of course the playground is not far from there. And if you're looking for gifts, they have a great variety from local artists. I'm always happy to go there and meet friends for a drink and a slice of cake!

Lovely place to go whatever age. Plenty to do and learn about. So much history to learn about our local area. And a great tea room with lovely cake. Great decking area to sit and chill. Sandpit for the children and aviary to look at the birds is now open. A must for everyone to try. And it's free, apart from the refreshments of course.

Fantastic little museum, with great local focused expositions as well as broader areas of interest. If the day isn't wet, then the outside areas are fantastic. I have many happy memories of going there in childhood, and it still lives up to it. It has really easy access from the town centre: By bus, on foot, or by car (there is parking but not massive amounts). I highly recommend this gem of a museum for all ages but even more for children. An easy 8 out of 10.

Nice little museum that presents an eclectic array of artefacts from across the history of the borough, including a small number of the vast photographic collection that it holds. More please! The grandkids loved the toy collection and the shop reproductions, whilst we found a photo of an ancestor (a mayor of the borough). Lovely cafe on ground floor, privately operated. Free parking, grounds and recreation area for the kids. The miniature railway was closed, surprising for a bank holiday.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Brampton. It was the first time and we didn't know what to expect. The exhibition is very lovingly curated and esp in the 80 time pieces room the descriptions are so good! Long enough to come to the point, short enough to actually read them. Very interesting. Loved the different old shops and the toy room and the Mayor's explanation about his house, Harry Potter style. Good actor! Also, the tea room and souvenir shop is brilliant, just looking around there was like more exhibits of local artists. Great youth work in the gallery, that's how you get youngsters interested in the arts! We learnt very interesting facts about Newcastle and the surrounding area, thank you for a lovely Saturday out!

If i could give 0 stars i would. So i was looking for local soft plays to take my 1 and a half year old. I came across jumbo fun and play and as it looked a big soft play for my little girl to run around in. I decided to take her here. We arrived the staff members were polite and it was a great price to get in £3! Me and my daughter were the only ones in the soft play and when i went up to get a drink i asked the staff member if they were always this quite as id been to lots of soft plays and none were this quite. The staff member explained it was due to it being a weekday. Upon going actually into the soft play area it became apparent why it was so quite. The soft play had rips and tears all over and was also really dirty. In all the soft plays id been to id never seen one this dirty and in bad condition i took a few photos of this too. Although the soft play was big it didnt really have a lot in there considering how big it was. I had taken a friend along with me too. Who explained when we came out that he came 6 months prior and it was also dirty and had tears and rips in but didnt want to say anything before in the hope it had changed. We stopped an hour as my little girl needed something to eat and even though they served food here i would not let my daughter eat in such a dirty place so we went elsewhere for food. I would avoid this place! I understand soft plays get dirty however this one looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years.

Best place to make your toddler tired ;) Prefer to visit during the week, on weekends and bank holidays so busy and overcrowded. Nice buffet, coffee, snacks, chips etc.

Had my little boy's 5th birthday party here, and have used it multiple times before. They are absolutely amazing and provide a stress free party. The food is hot and fresh, the play area is large and clean, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Katie was our party host today, and she was an absolute pleasure making sure everything ran smoothly. 10 out of 10 definitely.

Avoid! Terrible, the soft play is covered in damage and rips and worn. Looks like it's not been cleaned down properly in years. Stayed 1 hour and left quickly. It was freezing inside, strangely was warmer outside than inside and for the middle of November just wrong. Certainly was not staying any longer for food. Coffee was pretty decent. Car park to the rear covered in rubbish and discarded empty bags used for drugs. Avoid!

Play area is fun for the kids but very worn. I've always found this particular soft play to be dirty, especially the toilets. The play frame needs a good clean too, I've often found rubbish, straws, empty drinks bottles in the play area. The children do enjoy it so we do visit occasionally, but it's not my first choice as a venue.

Very spacious inside, staff friendly enough, very quiet as we went on a weekday. Menu reasonably priced. Cleaning needs to be kept on top of and the female toilets stunk all session and needed a good clean/maintenance. Chairs need a good clean, they have old stains on them. Parking is not good either, there's only a very small carpark at the rear for about 5 cars.

Attended birthday party and was pleasantly surprised at size of venue. The children had a great time

Had my daughters party here today and the staff were second to none. I didn't have to lift a finger. Special mention to Kaitlin (sorry if the spelling is wrong) as she went above and beyond to make my daughters day special and life easy for me xxx

Prepare for a chilly experience if you visit during the cold season—there's zero heating available, so expect indoor temperatures to match the freezing outside. My kids couldn't bear the cold after just 40 minutes of play; their hands and feet were ice-cold despite wearing coats. My 6-year-old flatly stated she never wants to return to Jumbo due to the unbearable cold. Considering the lack of basic heating, it's wise to bring your own heater if you plan to visit in winter. Otherwise, be ready for a shiver-filled outing

Little one loved the visit although I found it very noisy, especially as there was a birthday party and the children attending were extremely excited. Loads for youngsters to do, although it is age restrictive. Only had a drink, so I can't comment on the food.

Great night and not to busy . We went on a Tuesday. Table tennis was free tonight but not always , crazy golf which we did. That was fun. Some old game stations like space invaders . Other computer games to play. Really great night to celebrate a birthday. Food and drinks available but not much choice.on food .Very friendly staff. Reasonable price . Prebook is best. There is a lift if needed. Children are allowed to go . Expect it would be busy at weekends. Toilets ok seen better. Some where a little bit different. Right next to the Vue cinema. Well worth a visit if you like this sort of thing . Do have offers on so look before hand .

Great place to visit. We went during the day, and it was relatively quiet. I would imagine at night it gets a little more busy. Good range of activities. Golf needs to be booked but others (table tennis, corn hole, shuffle board, video gaming etc.) can be arranged during your visit. Mini golf course is great with some interesting and challenging holes. Good range of food and drink, albeit food is a little basic, but good value. Some confusion as to the "free play if you buy a drink" for some of the activities as some staff told us we needed to buy a drink for each activity and others didn't. Otherwise a great couple of hours.

Absolutely a great place to come for a walk or see the exhibition.footpaths can get a bit muddy so either boots or wellies.my dog Steve loves to run and run

It's a good place for a walk or bikeride. Carpark was free and easy to find. There are toilets which is always handy. Not been to the free museum but we had a cuppa tea, flapjacks and an oatcake from the cafe which was nice after a walk.

I haven't been down Apedale for a few years so decided to go and have a walk around to see what's changed and what a surprise I got ( in a good way ) the walk was well worth it . The heritage centre was open and steam trains were running also a well stocked cafe , amazing to see such trains been well looked after and running with passengers on board. Walk around Apedale itself was lovely but must admit I didn't go all the way around, but I will soon . I could carry on talking about this lovely place. Dog friendly and also a great place to take the kids . Plenty to see & do .

Lovely place to go for a walk with the dogs, you can also walk through the woods to keep cool. Once you have finished your walk here there is a lovely little cafe you can either sit inside or outside, and the staff are so friendly and kind. Also there is a little train you can go on with kids which is run completely by volunteers and they do an amazing job.

What a nice visit this was. Looking to spend 3/4 hours without being ripped off with entrance fees and car parking fees? Well it’s FREE here. Really refreshing to see people keeping alive the past without making a fuss. The museum alone is a good few hours to look around. Nice cafe with friendly volunteers. Well done to all volunteers both past n present.

Kids came here for a footie team party. They enjoyed it alot. However there want much organisation in there, no covid restrictions. They double booked even though we hired for an exclusive party and paid extra for it. It was quickly resolved, but then outside the laser room was very full and chaotic with kids jumping over tables, running around play fighting with anything they could find, the staff tried telling them to calm down a little but they continued. Not the staffs fault of the unruly kids who's parents should have been telling them, but it's just not good having lots of groups confined in one space and the double booking (that's the reason for knocking 1 star off).... the kids loved it though and had lots of fun.

I’m sorry to say that the experience was very poor. The place was filthy when I went. The arcade games are broken or in poor condition. There are absolutely no covid safety precautions. The floor underneath the party tables was littered with old empty cups. Staff left empty tables dirty for the entire time we were there. Additionally a teenager was sat on the sofas vaping (which I appreciated isn’t the establishments fault directly, but when you take no pride in your place you can’t expect customers to treat it with pride). Having read the other reviews, it seems that this place was once great and has been let to slip into a total pit. In response to the comment from management below: I am not the person you think I am. I did not book the party, my child was a guest. I’ve made no comment about the food and only comment on the way I found your establishment to be on the day. I understand that you are defensive of your business, but it would be better to put your enthusiasm into giving the place a good clean and having a fresh start to 2022. All the best.

Absolutely fantastic time, the staff made stuff an effort and made our birthday boy the star of the show… plus we had a few games of laser quest as well! Highly recommended if you have little one who want a great time in a safe friendly laser quest battle zone!! Well done guys and massive thank you

Absolutely awful, would give it 0 stars if I could. Drove almost 3 hours to come to ‘the best laser quest in the uk’. I would have said it’s the worst laser quest I’ve ever been too. It wouldn’t kill them to pick up a mop and bucket every now and then. You can only play different games if ‘you are a member’ god only knows why someone would want to be a member of this place. Family member got stuck in the toilet too. Got bored of playing after 5 minutes as the room what incredibly small. My local area has 4 floors much rather spend my money there. Don’t waste your money or time.

This is the best birthday party I have ever booked and I have 5 children so that's a lot of parties. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they were amazing with the children, the kids had so much fun. The staff made it, they went above and beyond. The manager was lovely and our party hosts Brandon and the other lad that looks like Tommyinit were fantastic with the kids and made it so much fun. I can't recommend it enough, it won't disappoint.

Fantastic place,the Grandchildren were there 2 hrs and loved it !! It's a children small town,with bank,Grocery store,post office,etc Do to Grump Grandad not having time for lunch we, arrived 2pm Sunday. My wife, was relieved there was food for both of us. I had pie and mushy peas,it was lovely.The food was selling well. The food was very good standard and all coffee and hot chocolate available Its little expense, however how much is 2 hrs peace and lovely smiles.

A wonderful venue for our grandson’s birthday party from planning through to the delivery of the cake. The play zone is immaculate and perfect for ludic play. Safe, varied and interesting - there are engaging activities to facilitate creative play. Provision for the party was exceptional and the staff hospitable and professional. A superb team - exceptional and welcoming - perfect for such child-friendly roles. Thank you for organising and hosting a special birthday celebration. In my opinion this is a really magnificent memorial monument which show how much it is worth for the people who live now. This Knife Angel was made from cold iron to blend with the knives which were used in the past crime scenes picked up from all streets in the UK and family members will never forget 🥹❤️

Been coming to manaflux since 2016, cannot say a bad word about it. Staffordshire are always very welcoming and informative even from the very first time I entered the shop to even now. Events are run smoothly and efficiently, and the selection of snacks and products for customers are always readily available and have a wide choice. Keep up the good work!

Awesome place. There's a huge range of things to play from MTG to 40k. There's books, board games, a small store, and a coffee shop. Friendly, mature and welcoming environment

Visited for the first time post-lockdown and was very impressed with the social distancing measures. Plenty of space (it's a large store in any case), plenty of divider screens and contactless payment. The staff are friendly, helpful and chatty, and the prices are very reasonable. I didn't see any gaming taking place, but I expect that will come in the near future. Great to see this local store reopening.

The hot drinks are amazing! (Plus they're only £1 if you go on a Monday!) They also do some really good mocktails; I think they're updating their menu for these just now.

Huge space but in total chaos and disarray. Mess everywhere unclean. Tell the staff to stop playing Warhammer for one day, and tidy the place up. Scoped it out as a place to take my son but won't be going back safely.

Amazing environment, nice staff, somewhat long waiting times, but that's a product of how engaging and willing to help the staff are!
