Filmpodcast T It is a lovely gentle movie about a difficult relationship between the newcoming lawer Ryanand and Denny who dont really know her place in life. Denny tries to break as a singer and she meet Ryan on a pub were she preform. At first everything is well but slowly Denny begin to open up and show her real herself. And Ryan dont know how to react to this. The movie is sad, funny and a very important piece of art. The movie have a exellent cast and we totaly love Liv Hewson as the primary version of Denny. David O'Donnell direction is magnificent and everybody involved in this movie has done their greastest effort to make this a lovely time to watch. It a must se! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/25/23 Full Review Julia G Fantastic movie and great actors. I could watch the movie again and again❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Carol H I was finally able to get some uninterrupted time to watch and it's wonderful! Liv and Alex are so genuine in their performances ~ which is why I think this movie is raw, emotional, insightful, heartbreaking and heartwarming all in one package. As a straight female, I can't begin to imagine the sense of disassociation with one's gender and body as Denny did. Or the pain and anguish of having to go through all that and dealing with others and society's expectations as they figured it out. Having the various actors portray the various stages of how Denny felt was confusing at first, I'll admit, but once I realized what it represented, it was really brilliant. We did see some of how this impacted Ryan ~ the confusion, the anger, the compassion, but since the movie is about Denny's journey, I felt the limited POV of Ryan made sense. You didn't sugar coat things or paint a morbid picture of the feelings and challenges that those that are non-binary go through. And maybe that's naïve of me, but I think you struck a really good balance. Thank you for making this movie. This helped give me a glimpse into their feelings that I wouldn't have otherwise known. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/23 Full Review Mark W A very sensitive and original take on a trans/non binary story that I found utterly compelling and fresh. David does a good job in staying away from tropes and approaches that we've seen in movies of this genre before. I particularly liked his use of 4 actors to play one character; a unique way to explore identity and the dissonance between inner and outer experiences of a body that one isn't connecting with. David is a rising voice to watch and I look forward to what films has to offer next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/23 Full Review karen s Loved this gorgeous film with its challenging subject manner. Beautifully written and directed by David O'Donnell with nuanced performances. It's what independent film making is all about!
