Early On: The Best Of The Mississippi Recordings includes 20 songs recorded in Mississippi between 1972-1976 with a number of different band configurations (The Invaders, Cottonrock, and Sabastian Carrot). All of the tracks on this release were recorded prior to Steve's move to New York City and the release of his debut album in 1978. Steve has commented that these tracks are some of his very favorite of the recordings he's done.
