Its a very interesting place to learn about different flora and fauna, which can even be purchased there. The grounds are well taken care of. scenic views especially if one love out doors. There are lots of activities available such as biking, boating, fishing there are baits for sale, leisurely walks, swings, football area, and lots of picnic areas. You can choose to have picnics under many of its carat covered sheds or ask for one area where you can drive with the car and a carat shed near by. I think you can even rent the grounds to host events. It is a very refreshing it is place to rejuvenate. I recommend it since it can be enjoyed by all age groups.

La Vega is a beautiful place. There is a lot of fantastic scenery. It is also a wonderful place for relaxing with family and friends. It is located in Gran Couva. I found the drive to be long, but it was worth is. You can relax in the recreation park or you can shop in the garden centre. There are a variety of plants; trees and flowers. If you have not visited as yet you should visit as soon as possible. It will be worth it.. :D

Waw!
Awesome space. So much to do. Fishing, picnic, cooking, weddings, playgrounds, horse, taking pics, hiking, buying plants, cricket, football, scootch/dodge ball etc.
The fresh air is wonderful. There's an entrance fee though.
Many, many caimans in the waters.
Peacocks, peahens & their chicks are visibly wandering around.
Just beautiful!
As a family, we definitely want to visit again.
Trust me, go for the entire day & just enjoy
Some fun in the clean fresh air with family & friends.

The place gives you all the amenities of a recreation area which you also find (inter) nationally in nature recreaction parks such as shaded seating areas, bathrooms etc. The place and its outline is somehow similar to a state park in the United States including the possibility to do short hikes in the area. The only difference is that La Vega is in a tropical setting. Recently a pool area was added. I agree with previous reviews that LaVega garden center is a wonderful place to relax. You certainly can hang out and when you walk the area you can get wonderful views on the central tablelands of Trinidad. ...unfortunately, every year a piece is added which makes the place more unreal. ...the pool area is just an example. I definitely do not want to judge but this place especially shows you all the pros and cons of a nations' development. Pros are giving people work and a sense for nature conservation and agriculture in an otherwise heavily polluted and dirty island, education for the young and, hopefully, creating an infrastructure for further income once the oil and gas boom has (possibly a mix of tourism and agriculture). Cons are that creating such areas in the middle of nowhere have an impact on biodervisity (smaĺl, sensitive species will dissapear) and consume ressources (really, a pool?). The latter costs money. This is possibly also the reason why the prices for the plants steadily increased. Some (tropical) plants are even far more expensive than in a garden shop in Europe. Certain things just should not be pushed to the limits. Therefore, La Vega always leaves a mixed feeling and my early positive opinion on this place is somehow changing.

I spent about 4 or 5 hours at La Vega and enjoyed wandering around to the different areas. The large pond was great for bird watching and I even found a caiman skull off on one side. I also enjoyed listening to the bamboo in the breeze in the meditation garden. I was alone so didn't set up a picnic or anything, but was quite happy to spend time lounging and finding my zen happy place in each of the areas and the day went by quickly.

We visited here with my Family on several occasions with 4 children and 6 teens they enjoyed themselves it had 3 little watercourse and a bouncycastle with objects in side of it which they all enjoyed( including the teens) then afterwards we went down to the back area because the slides are in the front there the children and teens played football and went on the swings and we had our food so we settled and had a great day! It has huts u can go and set up your food and such there is also a lake where you can fish and there are peddleboats! The teens enjoyed the peddle boats but all there activites you have yo pay for that was the only down side!

The prices are a bit too high especially for children.
There needs to be more activities for at the play park meaning more swings and slides plus the slides were rusted therefore these items has to be cleaned regularly.

Been there a few times.with family and friends and always had an enjoyable time.
You can select a hut of your choice that is affordable. Cook there or bring along already cooked meals. Ambiance is great. Cool surroundings. All worthwhile.

I had the most wonderful day of my trip in 2017 at the La Vega Estate. I got there before they opened, and left shortly before the 2 Pools closed. I was so upset that I learned about them late in my trip, and did not have time for a repeat return, but if I am blessed to live to go back, I will be there!

The pool area is clean, the grounds are well maintained. There are workers who were constantly performing some form of maintenance during our visit. In the pool area, you are restricted in what can be brought near the pool, but there are tables that a family can comfortably sit at, and enjoy a snack/meal. We rented a covered compound with a table and sink, and it was well worth the fee.

I was so impressed by the shower facilities in the ladies restroom. It was clean, and private. You could shower, and dress in the same stall. I only wish they had those facilities at Maracas Beach!

I really miss La Vega Estate, and have fond memories of a day well spent with my Goddaughter and her son. I will be back . . . we will be back!
