On a Day Like Today ~ September 20, 1832. Prince Nikolaus Wilhelm of Nassau, a 3x great grandson of HM King George II, was born.
Nikolaus was born on this day in 1832 in Biebrich as the 11th child and 5th son of William, Duke of Nassau. His mother, Princess Pauline of Württemberg was his father's second wife, thus he was his mother's 3rd child and eldest son.
In early July 1868 Nikolaus married Natalia Alexandrovna Pushkin and shortly thereafter Nikolaus's brother-in-law, George Victor, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont granted Natalia the title Countess von Merenberg. The marriage produced 3 children, all of whom survived into adulthood.
