He's a narcissist and his behavior is typical of their pathological jealousy.

He'd do the same to everyone who has ever left his show...albeit in this case it was a temporary LOA.

Howard betting that Amazing Race wouldn't last one season. Hahaha king of all media my ass

The important question is did Howard ever pay Scott the $10k he bet him that it wouldn't last another season after the season where Scott arrived.

Stern always has an agenda- unlike Fred. Hi Fred!

Einziger didn't last more than one season on the show so Howard was on the right track.

Howard's point was Amazing Race would be cancelled cuz no one watched it and Einziger would have no career. Einziger has had a great career producing reality TV. Where would he be if he stayed with God awful Howard TV? What track are you referring to?

He only did 22 eps of amazing race and then was gone, the most successful thing he did (next to stern) was Big Brother for a short period of time. Everything else has been tiny bits here and there on shows no ones heard of. Where would he be if he stayed? Gee I dont know, definitely a lot richer with a stable salary on top of it.

Howard was definitely on the right track with this, even called out that he has never written anything so how can he expect to just go pitch a show. Well I guess he found out the answer when the guy stole one of his ideas and pitched it to a network, turns out he didn't need to write one.

What an awful career choice that was for Einziger. It's not like Amazing Race is going on 20 seasons now or anything. /s

Einziger.... what is that italian?

u/stanktronic avatar

The Amazing Race? Is that a show about white people?

I laughed :)

It's funny when the joke is actually said by Zach Galifianakis

Howard turned out to be right about Scott, since the show he did end up helping to create was a rip off of a Howard bit.

But Scott was also right to leave. He's better off than the unmotivated losers who hung on with HowardTV til the better end.

I think I'm confused. How the fuck is the Amazing Race a rip off of a Howard bit? Best decision of this guy's life. Could have been working at escaping Alaska with Doug z Goodstein.

Edited

Scott had no hand in the creation of The Amazing Race. I'm referring to the show Are You Hot?, which Scott worked on after The Amazing Race. Howard sued ABC and got a settlement.

But I 100% agree he made the right call. Based on his imdb, it seems like he gets steady work producing reality tv, which is about the best a guy like Einziger could hope for. Don't know the circumstances of how or why he left the Amazing Race, but if he left on his own, that was his big mistake.

Are you sure Howard got a settlement from ABC?

u/efs120 avatar

You're right, it was the production company Howard got a settlement out of, after they tanked the concept.

I had no idea they hired Jackie as a consultant. Did he punch up the script?

Howard was clearly hurt that Scott was leaving him. But Scott was right to not tie his entire career to Howard even if he's not doing so great now. He would've been out of a job after Howard TV went away. I think the staff mentioned that his wife's family is rich so maybe he doesn't have to work.

u/efs120 avatar

Pretty ironic that Howard was pressing Scott on why he didn't pitch anything to him considering what happened a couple years later. I guess we know why scott didn't pitch Howard.

He went on to be executive producer of many, many shows. He's probably filthy rich now.

Filthy rich? Did you not read the very link you presented? You think producing 6 episodes of "trisha's southern kitchen" is bringing in the big bucks? He hasn't even worked as a producer in years, Stern is still on the air.

i wish he was filthy rich😔

I have a feeling they would have found something for him, the show is still filmed to this day, just because it was taken of E or whatever doesn't necessarily mean he'd just be let go.

It still doesn't make it less fucked up on Howard's part.

u/efs120 avatar

Eh, people get worked up about this in hindsight and at the same time complain Howard doesn't put on behind the scenes drama. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Doubt anyone at the time really thought this was fucked up, but in 2017, people like to look back and think about what a jerk Howard is.

You hit the nail on the head.

There's parts of him that grew up and changed but the insecurity has always been there.
