- Cadillac has announced pricing for its new three-row XT6 SUV, which starts at $53,690 for the base Premium Luxury trim level and ranges up to $73,740 for a fully loaded all-wheel-drive Sport trim.
- These prices make the Cadillac costlier than similar rivals such as the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60, placing it closer to more powerful and luxurious competitors such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Lincoln Aviator.
- The XT6 is scheduled to go on sale within the next few months.
Cadillac has priced its new XT6 ambitiously, with the three-row SUV starting in the low-$50,000 range and going past $70,000 with all the options. It's available in two trim levels: Premium Luxury and Sport, with both coming standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine making 310 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic transmission. According to Cadillac's new torque-based engine-naming scheme, all models will wear a "400" designation.
The entry-level front-wheel-drive Premium Luxury will start at $53,690, around $8400 more than front-wheel-drive versions of both the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60, which are similar in size, powertrain configuration, and purview to the XT6. The Cadillac does not have many desirable features as standard, either, lacking the adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and other active-safety features that come standard on the base MDX.
All-wheel drive costs $2000 extra on the XT6 Premium Luxury, and there are numerous option packages available, including a $1300 Driver Assist package that adds many of the aforementioned safety features; a $2350 Enhanced Visibility and Technology package with a digital gauge cluster, head-up display, and 360-degree camera system; and a $4900 Platinum package that includes both of those packages and plusher interior trimmings.
The Sport trim, which only comes with all-wheel drive, starts at $58,090. It has a more sophisticated torque-vectoring AWD system and a quicker steering ratio compared with the Premium Luxury model. The XT6 Sport differentiates itself visually with darker exterior accents and carbon-fiber-look trim for the interior. The same option packages are available as on the Premium Luxury trim, and when we added the Platinum package along with a few stand-alone options such as the $2000 Night Vision system, we reached a fully loaded price of $73,740.
