I got this book because I love some of Olivier's movies (Rebecca and Wuthering Heights) and have just been able to watch some of his Shakespeare performances, which are outstanding. I wanted to learn more about his background and was very surprised to fine he was married to Vivien Leigh (Scarlett O'Hara) for many years. It was a very interesting book about an earlier time period, although since he is British, many of the people he talks about in the theatre are not known to an American audience.

I never really consider biographical works as literary pieces - but this book, the way it is written, makes me feel like I am reading something of great significance. I loved this actor, but love him even more after his open, candid and frank sharing of some of the more intimate moments of his life. In his own words is better than any other writer could do for this man. Thoroughly enjoyable and a delight to read.

I am very glad to have this book, and it arrived promptly. However, it was listed as "New," but it is not new. Some pages towards the back of the book are loose suggesting a manufacturer's weakness. Several passages in the book are marked, indicating previous ownership. These weakness should have been caught before sale, and the book's condition accurately reported.
