I wish I had read all the reviews under the Terrible heading before I stayed here. After reading the reviews and staying 2 nights, I have to agree with most comments. The staff are very nice but there is nothing good about this place or the food. The worst stay in any hotel I can ever remember. I would never go back!

Thanks for your review. I'd love to know what part of your stay was so terrible, or for an elaboration on what part of lodging, dining, and dozens of recreation options for guests of all ages and interests all here on property makes us not a Resort.

We stayed one night. The grill was okay, the room was good. We arrived after 7pm, so many of the activities were shut down. It was not as much of a biker hotel as I expected, but that was good because it was peaceful. I'd stay there again if in the area.

Thank you for your review. No, Fontana Village Resort is not a biker specific destination. We have been hosting travelers of all types and especially catering to families and outdoor enthusiasts since the 1940's.

We have recently returned from a 2 nights stay at the Fontana Village Resort in North Carolina. We were there in a group of four on a motorcycle trip. This was our second stay at the resort. The location of the resort is very close the the US129 (The Dragon) and it's located right in the Smokey Mountains. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a very nice lobby and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are a bit outdated but clean. Staff are doing a good job at keeping the property clean. We only had breakfast in the lodge restaurant which was tasty and not overly expensive. The dinners down at the pub are ok. The resort has a pool which comes in handy on a hot day to cool off and if you come with kids there is also a

Thank you for your review of Fontana Village Resort! Fontana Village is the perfect location for car and motorcycle groups and travelers as we are perfectly situated by the Tail of the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We spent 4 nights here in one of their basic cabins. Nothing fancy but clean and quiet. Our kids are grown but this would be a wonderful place to come with a family. We encountered turtles, deer, skunks, turkey, rabbits...in other words the area is woodsy and rather isolated. I have been surprised at how few people we know in the Atlanta area have even heard of this place and it is only 4 hours away. There is wifi in the main lodge but not where we were (actually a blessing to get away from all the technology)

Thank you for your review! Our location is surrounded on all sides by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Nantahala National Forest, and the pristine Fontana Lake which provides one with an exceptional escape from the hustle and bustle of busy Atlanta, or any of the other metro areas that are less than 4 hours away such as Greenville/Spartanburg, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Asheville, or Charlotte.

This resort is beautiful! Our room was perfect. Please remember you are in the forest..this is not a "modern" hotel but it is not rustic either. The rooms were very clean though. I do agree that the WIFI is awful. The only time we could check out email or use the phone is if we were in the main lodge. We were able to get breakfast at the restaurant in the main lodge the 2 days that we stayed there and it was reasonably priced. We were unable to eat dinner at the lodge because it was closed on Tuesday/Wednesday night. We did however, walk over to the other restaurant, the Grill and ate there. They have great pizza! The bartender, Becky, took great care of us and made us feel so welcome the 2 nights we were there. There is also an ice cream shop on the grounds. There are cabins

Arrived later in the evening and key only fit the front door and the parking was in the back. After getting our bags unpacked moved some towels that were on the jacuzzi and a palomino bug ran out . Called the front desk no maintenance was on staff, they offered to move us but after a day of travel we decided to stay. Next morning maintenance was there right away with a can of raid. He assured us that we should only see just that one. That evening there was another one. We cut our stay short and was only given 25% off because we didn't move to a different cabin. After speaking to the cabin Renters beside us they had bugs too. Beautiful view but won't be back.

We stayed one night in main lodge. View from private balcony faced mountains - really lovely! Our room was clean and comfortable but decor is very out-dated. Same goes for common areas. A major renovation would do wonders to this resort. The grounds are extensive and the areas we drove or walked thru were well maintained. The food at the grill was OK. Our waitperson was efficient, attentive and friendly. Only option for breakfast was buffet in main lodge. Priced rather high, especially if a guest was staying for several days. The view of mountains from dining room is beautiful but room is pretty depressing because of extremely dark and outdated furnishings. However, a friendly chef was on hand to make omelettes and there was a good selection of fresh fruit. I would give this

Thank you so much for your review of Fontana Village Resort! The breakfast buffet at the Mountview Bistro is offered on the busiest days of the year to best accommodate the higher number of guests dining in the restaurant, otherwise, normal menu service is offered. Please call the Resort to find out up to date menus, service times, and operating hours.

You remember that vacation place in Dirty Dancing where the family went for vacation? Well Fontana Village is a bit like that, with a definite feel of going back to a simpler time. You can let your kids run free, and everyone is very friendly and helpful. It's a place for good folks to have a good time. My neighbor had been recommending this place to me as THE place to stay when I went to ride the Tail of the Dragon, and boy was he right! It's only a few miles from the North Carolina end of the Dragon, but far enough away that you don't have to listen to the constant roar of engines. Hey, I like engines as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean I want to compete with them while trying to have a conversation or enjoy a hot, relaxing bath or sit by the fire. The place is

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! You are exactly right, Fontana Village is just minutes away from some of the best attractions in Western North Carolina like the Tail of the Dragon and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but yet retains a nice and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Lodging includes one, two, and three bedroom cabins as well as room at the Lodge hotel. Thank you again for your review and for staying with us this Memorial Day Weekend!

This visit to Fontana Dam was my third. I was there as a young girl in the 70's, October 2016 and May 2017. We came back with both of our grown children this time to share the mountain beauty and serenity of the place. We intended to camp however, Mother Nature sent us a storm late at night that cracked a tent pole. The Lodge offered wonderful accommodations. The next night, we stayed in a cabin that was clean and offered great amenities. From this location you can discover rich history about the Dam and the local area. We also took advantage of the opportunity to section hike the Appalachian Trail. Tammy at the front desk took excellent care of us when we were distressed about our tent. If I could say anything, the campground site could have been cleaner. I picked up

This is a beautiful location and a nice resort at which to spend some time. It is an older establishment, but they have done lots to improve the place since I was there last about ten years ago. Added a nice pool with lazy river, yet maintained the old Gunter homestead cabin as a small museum. We totally enjoyed the dance week that we spent there, the staff being helpful and facilities good for dancing. We stayed at the campground just below the dam. It is a small campground, gorgeous setting right on the river, however, it is 2 miles down a steep winding road from the main resort, so don't plan to just send the kids off to play on the playground, or tale a stroll to the mini golf course. There are plenty of recreational opportunities, but they are all (except marina) at the

We ate breakfast in our cabin. In 2016 my husband ate breakfast with others in the buffet area. He thought the buffet was very good. In 2018 he may have eaten in the only restaurant avaliable most of the time...which was the smaller casual restaurant. In 2018 we ate dinner several times in the more formal restaurant.Everything was very good. But selection limited. Especially for a 7 day vacation.
