This movie is noteworthy only because of the positioning of 40+ year old Warren William as a beefcake. He looks great, but still — I haven't ever seen such a long shirtless scene in a movie from the 30s.
The precode master Warren William castrated! It's 1935, you know. He's still courting beautiful women, but it's all a very tame affair. And honestly, this was a very tedious film. Had it not been for Warren Hymer's ugly mug shaking things up, this would have been quite unbearable. Man, that guy has saved a lot of terrible pictures!
A silly little frothy warm blanket of a movie, thoroughly enjoyable and just what I needed.
“The Widow from Monte Carlo”, I am sorry to say, is just such a nothing movie. Every week during the 2021 Film School Drop Outs Challenge I want to write a review for the film I see but there is just so little I have to say about this one.
