Bob Seger And His Silver Bullet Band Are Climbing The Charts

Following

Rock superstar Bob Seger isn’t putting out new music, but that’s not keeping him from the charts. In fact, while he may never release anything again, his catalog is stuffed with hits, and his fan base remains solid, so he may always be able to find space on the weekly rankings.

Seger and his Silver Bullet Band are present once again on two Billboard charts. That’s not unusual, as the group can almost always be found on at least one or two rankings. But this frame, the group manages to climb on both lists they appear on, and it seems their rise is thanks to nothing more than continued love from listeners around the country.

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band’s Greatest Hits jumps 14 spaces on the Billboard 200 this frame. That’s a notable leap for any title on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S.—and especially so for one that’s been out in the world for coming up on 30 years.

In the past tracking period, Greatest Hits moved another 9,501 equivalent units. That’s up 3.6% from the frame before.

Included in that 9,500-plus figure are 1,637 pure purchases. That is an impressive sum for a decades-old compilation, and it shows that there is clearly still a real interest in not only listening to the biggest singles from the band, but also to own the collection outright.

As Greatest Hits shoots up the Billboard 200, the set is also lifting on another roster–though it doesn’t perform quite as well. Seger and his group push forward from No. 35 to No. 32 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart this time around. This frame marks 300 weeks on this genre-specific tally for the compilation.
