James Edward Haygood, 72, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Houston, with his family by his side.
He was born January 1, 1950, in McDonald, a son of the late John R. Haygood and Grace Smith Haygood Thornton.
Mr. Haygood was a 1968 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and worked as a laborer for several steel and construction companies.
He served with the US Air Force in the early 1970's, where he was assigned to the 416 Security Police Sq.
James was passionate about the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and enjoyed the casino and Bingo.
Surviving are three daughters, Marchelle Haygood (Donald Bent) and Lynnette Haygood, both of Carnegie, and Janell Runco of Lawrenceville, Ga.; eight grandchildren: Deon Che and Brandon Summers (Dalton), Jaque Haygood, Nakia and Indya Hainesworth, Jaden Calhoun, Jaila Haygood-Calhoun and Neena Aguon; three great-grandchildren, Jaden Jr., Jamar Jr. and Roman; five sisters, Edith Penn, Dorothy Reese and Sara Young (Al), all of Canonsburg, Ivory Richardson (Julian), of Douglasville, Ga. and Beverly Collazo (Tito) of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Michael Haygood is deceased.
Friends will be received from Noon to 2 p.m., the time of service, Friday, December 30, 2022, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner / Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.
Private interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
