It is possible to access the botanical garden trails for free in winter. The Chinese garden is accessible just like that of the First Nations. About 5km to do in winter. Cross-country skiing too. For all the information on this hike, you can consult my Facebook page “Karine and the mountain”.
WOW, they've really improved it since my last visit. With flowers in bloom, and the gardens beautifully manicured what more can you ask for? Oh sure add in a light-show, mist, dry-ice, colored leaves, Inuit memorabilia, real bathrooms, and nearby location... its a gem everyone should revisit.
That was 2019. After Ottawa, we stopped in Montreal for a couple of days. We visited Mount Royal, Notre Dame, Old Montreal, Biodome/Biosphere, and Montreal Botanical Garden. Montreal is a great city, I am very impressed by its Chinese garden inside Botanical Garden, very authentic, I think it is one of the best Chinese gardens outside China. Strongly recommended. https://youtu.be/VsJZINB_olc
