P.A. if you recall were the incredibly east coast sounding Atlanta act from the dungeon family that predated Outkast with their 93' debut. Since then both Outkast and Goodie Mob (and UGK) have absolutely transformed southern hip hop, and most particularly the Atlanta scene into a rip roaring monster all it's own. And SHOCKER, P.A. no longer sound east coast, nope, they sound like a second tier but nonetheless fascinating little brother of those other two legendary acts. Got the slang, the style, the wonderful organic blend of guitar and whatnot. In a way half of this sounds like UGK influenced slow glutton rap, and the other hand is the dirty south genius of Organized Noise. They don't really embody the second hand UGK beats so well, but work great over the Noise side of things. It just amazes me how different this is from the 93' debut, I mean. That sort of immense transformation of a whole region from nothingness into distinct muscular national identity...damn y'know. And these guys have a career that acts like a litmus test for it all. This is golden age dungeon family folks, even if at half the power it still kicks some ass.
