Indications/Uses
Continuous symptomatic treatment of persistent asthma & of other forms of COPD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult
Initially 5-8 mg/kg/day. Usual effective dose: 7-12 mg/kg/day. Max: 800 mg/day.
Childn 9-16 yr
Initially 10-12 mg/kg/day. Usual effective dose: 10-16 mg/kg/day.
Childn 30 mth to 8 yr
Initially 10-14 mg/kg/day. Usual effective dose: 13-20 mg/kg/day. All to be given in 2 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Childn <30 mth. Asthmatic attacks, acute intermittent porphyria; concomitant use w/ troleandomycin or enoxacine & erythromycin or viloxazine. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Acute heart failure, coronary insufficiency, obesity, hyperthyroidism, impaired liver function, history of epilepsy. Young childn. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, headache, excitation, insomnia, tachycardia.

Cimetidine, allopurinol, fluconazole, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, pefloxacine, fluvoxamine, mexiletine, ticlopidine, pentoxifylline, thiabendazole or tacrine, carbamazepine, phenobarb, phenytoin, primidone, rifabutin, rifampicin, ritonavir.
