What travelers are saying
- ThreeStarDave68 contributionsA striking modern church, poised on a hill where it serves as a reference point across the city, with lovely views in all directions.
The architecture of the church -- built between 1945 and 1986 -- is quite distinctive and stark, cast in concrete rather than stone or other materials. The inside of the church is just as remarkable -- almost painfully naked concrete and lack of decor or color, feeling like a black and white sketch of a cathedral, save for the few intermittent points of color and furniture.
Of note are the statue of Jesus by the entrance doors, the altar and pulpit, the lovely baptismal font, the lady chapel to the left of the altar, and the different organs and pipework for same.
The other half of the visit is to the bell tower, which provides great views of Reykjavik in all directions, for a small charge.
All in all, a great place to visit when coming to the city.Written May 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Happy Mamma966 contributionsWe did zodiac tour with Ice Lagoon glacier tours. Teddi was a fabulous guide. The waterproof suits they provided were both warm and provided a layer of safety. It was simply magical to get up close to the glacier and see all the blue pieces recently broken off. Highly recommended! Don’t miss the Diamond Beach just across the street.Written May 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - frejaAarhus, Denmark2 contributionsI honestly expected this place to be a bit overrated - but as soon as we arrived I immediately understood the hype. This waterfall is absolutely breathtaking and being so close to it is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. This is an absolute must see.Written April 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SeeDotGoLos Alamitos, CA48 contributionsThere is so much we didn’t know about Iceland’s geographic beginnings. This museum does an amazing job – way beyond expectations. Enjoy the Northern Lights show, the really cold ice cave. On the top fifth floor, there is a gorgeous atrium where you can order up food and artisan coffee. Worth a stop.Written May 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Don't forget to go to the close waterfall "Ggljúfrabúi". Most people don't know of this little gem hide in the stone.Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hallidaynyNew York City, New York140 contributionsAwesome experience. Clear cold water. Felt close to the Earth and the majesty of creation. Was scared but I am glad I did it. Could see into a true abyss. We had a lovely excursion. Really memorable.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Belinda HNew York City, NY709 contributionsPretty beach, and some epic views, but the basalt columns were not as grand as expected. The coffee shop next to it is nice too. Be careful of the waves!Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SeeDotGoLos Alamitos, CA48 contributionsReally worth it. We had a car, which we were glad to have. So many tour buses at the various stops. Having a car made our trip more spontaneous. We were able to visit the various stops at our own pace. Thingvelir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and Kerid Crater all totally worth a stop. As for the Geysir Thermal Area, if you’ve seen a geyser or thermal areas before, it’s not worth seeing for a “spouting” of the geyser. Tour buses packed in, with the giant souvenir store. Also, if you only have a short tine in Iceland, this loop gives you a great experience of Iceland terrain and landscapes.Written May 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
