This railway bridge crosses the Daugava river in Riga.

The first iron railway bridge in Riga, over 182 meters long, was completed in 1872 for the Riga–Jelgava Railway. The new bridge was inaugurated in 1914. It was damaged twice, during World War I in 1917 and World War II in 1944 but was rebuilt both times.

There are plans to duplicate the bridge as part of the new Rail Baltica line which goes through Riga.

Chances are the average traveler will spot the Railway Bridge on their way in and out of central Riga if going to/from the airport like I did. It is architecturally stunning and an incredible symbol of Latvia. It is worth taking a few pictures, albeit I didn’t actually on my trip, sigh. Check it out!

Train bridge during the day, while nice visual attraction during the evening and night thanks to the installed lights. We enjoyed the view from our hotel room at the river and this bridge. Visual connection between the two riversides.

The Railway Bridge (Latvian: Dzelzceļa tilts) is a bridge that crosses the Daugava river. The bridge was inaugurated 1914, shelled twice, during World War I in 1917 and World War II in 1944, and was rebuilt both times.

It's not really worth visiting the railway bridge as such. You will see it on multiple ocations when you are in Riga anyways. The bridge is illuminated at night but the main picture gives it a much nicer look than it really is since there are buildings behind the bridge. The bridge is illuminated in white only.

During the days its just another bridge.

Not far from the Central Market this railway bridge in day seems just like many others in Europe; however, at night it is illuminated. Nice view of the bridge at night if you want to stroll by after dinner.

I was kinda disappointed because the main picture of this attraction looks more awesome than it is in real life. The bridge is very little illuminated, in white and a little bit of blue. It is not enough for nice impressive night pictures. But you will not miss it as it is close to the Old Town and on the other side there is the National Library.

Saw it from a number of different vantage points and if I'm being honest its nothing special just another railway bridge.

The bridge is made of iron and is of the classic railway bridge design of the turn of the 19th, beginning of the 20th century, with arches along its length. The bridge was damaged by shell fire in both World Wars and rebuilt. It is best to see it at nigh when it is illuminated.

Both the Central Market nearby and this railway bridge had a similar 5-"hump" appearance. I don't think it was intentional.

The railway bridge crosses the Daugava river and was the first iron railway bridge in Riga -- over 600 ft long. It was erected in 1872 for the Riga-Jelgava Railway. It is lighted beautifully at night.
