This can't really be considered a "hits" collection (The Beach Boys' hit-making days were not QUITE but pretty much over by the time they left Capitol in 1970), but it's still a great collection of the group's later material. Although there are people who say that The Beach Boys did all of their best material during the '60s, I am not among them. The group may have had all but a very few of their hits during that period, and the stuff they did back then may be more appreciated than their later works, but they certainly didn't stop recording great music after they moved on from Capitol.
As well as a lot of tracks from their 1970-1980 singles and albums, this collection includes a couple of songs (in addition to "The River Song," which is a Dennis Wilson solo track) that, as far as I know, haven't appeared on any other Beach Boys releases. These are "It's A Beautiful Day," which was the theme from a movie, and "Sea Cruise," which is an outtake from the Fifteen Big Ones album.
There are also a couple of other tracks that are hard to find. The only other place (as far as I know) that "San Miguel" can be found, is on Capitol's Good Vibrations box set. Capitol's Warmth Of The Sun compilation is the only other place I know of where the single edit of "Cool, Cool Water" can be found. For some reason, the recording of "Come Go With Me" that is included here is an alternate version, not the one that was originally released on album in '78 and was belatedly released as a single (and became a hit) in '81. (This alternate version was also released on the 1991 reissue of M.I.U. Album, or so I've read.)
The "Brother years" of the Beach Boys are STILL rather neglected, at least as far as best-of's and "hits" sets go. Most collections that include tracks from those years really only have a few of them, as the comps focus primarily on the group's '60s Capitol material (and usually "Kokomo"). Capitol's single-disc, 20-song Greatest Hits Volume 3 compilation is (as far as I know) the only other collection that focuses exclusively on the post-'60s period, so Ten Years Of Harmony is a great find, if you can find it (and if the price is good; I managed to get it for a much lower price than the other prices I've seen for it).
Update: The originally released version of "Come Go With Me" was included on the vinyl release of this set, not the version on this reissue. Also, it is the edited single version of "It's A Beautiful Day" that is on this set; the unedited version (which hasn't been on a Beach Boys release) is a good bit longer. Those points slipped my mind when I wrote this review.
