Charming traditional retreat in 16th-century Emperor's residence, set beneath the walls of Prague Castle. Wander up the cobbled, traffic-free streets to The Golden Well (U Zlate Studne), clinging to the wall in the shadow of Prague Castle, and you will uncover one of the city's best kept secrets. This modest collection of little inter-locking houses was once home to Emperor Rudolf II, and later the astronomer Tycho de Brahe. Sensitive renovation - has created a cosy yet refined hotel. The result is a pleasing balance of mod cons - internet access, satellite TV - and old style elegance.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

We had a wonderful five-night stay at The Golden Well during the third week of March.
The hotel is charming and although it has many rooms, manages to feel very hushed and intimate. The location is ideal- tucked underneath Prague Castle in the Little Quarter and in a very pretty part of that section of the city. Our room was charming and immaculate, with a wonderful view over the rooftops of the city. The bathroom was nicely appointed with a terrific shower and tub. Espresso maker in the room. A further bonus is the dining. The breakfast buffet was superb, offering anything you could possibly want. We also had lunch (I had a delicious stroganoff ) and dinner in the restaurant on one occasion and the food was fantastic. The concierges are all very helpful. All in all, a terrific place to stay.

A very charming hotel located in a great neighborhood 5 minutes from the castle and 10 minutes from Old Town. Both the accommodations and the service are beyond excellent. This was like staying in a Four Seasons or other 5 star hotel only in a boutique hotel package. Beautiful, spacious room with amazing views of the city. The breakfast in their restaurant was fantastic with a panoramic view of the city. We have already recommended it to numerous friends in Europe and the U.S. for future visits.

Our stay has been quite charming and lovely! We had corner room to make our morning and afternoon views breathtaking of Praha. Hotel breakfast is an absolute must as well as romantic dinner! Our room was spotless and evening turn-in service is something that must be brought back in hotels to make stays romantic and relaxing

- Warm and friendly staff, who can't do enough to help and are quick to respond - Beautiful, comfortable, quiet rooms with Molten Brown in the bathrooms - Exceptional breakfast in the restaurant looking out over the entire city - Delicious food and attentive service for dinner - We were not disturbed when we didn't want to be, which made our stay very restful - About 20 minutes' (very lovely) walk from city centre, which we saw as a positive thing due to the peace and quiet

Lovely hotel, quiet, elegant, with very attentive service. Breakfast worth the extra cost; can order anything you like a la carte in addition to an extensive spread. Dinner with fabulous view is delicious and rightly popular; reserve ahead. Wine, coffee, tea, snacks in the lounge in the late afternoon a plus at the end of a busy day. Would definitely stay here again and recommend highly. I rated it "expensive" because it is a 5-star luxury hotel/experience, but really not expensive by New York, Paris, London standards.

This is a beautiful quaint hotel with a sweet, young staff that are very helpful!!! It's up a cobblestone street and very picturesque. They had wine,cheese, fruit and chocolate cake, waiting for us when we arrived. It was my birthday and they wrote me a birthday card. Every night at turn down they leave a dessert. They have a hospitality room with appetizers and wine every night. The toilet is fancy and japanese with fan and bidet and everything you could want from a toilet!!! Highly recommend! Forgot..the rooftop restaurant is a MUST!!

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the staff. This was our first visit to Prague and I'm so thankful we stayed here. The room was very large, clean and provided a lovely view of the city. The location was perfect for us. Everything was easy to walk to but we were away from the noise of the late night crowds. The staff at Golden Well is simply the best. They took care of absolutely everything with a graciousness that has been lost at most hotels. I would stay here for my next Prague visit without a doubt.

My stay at the hotel throughout my time in Prague was wonderful. My room has a great view of Prague which is nice, and the room was comfortable. The hotel staff were nice and friendly. The location was not bad as it was located by walking distance to Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and other attractions.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel at the end of March this year for 3 nights (apologies for the late review!). I can honestly say it was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. The position for us was excellent in Mala Strana, which was quiet but only about a 10 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. Ivan on reception was so welcoming and professional, recommending some excellent restaurants. Our room was absolutely spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, it was a pleasure to return after a long day sightseeing and relax (really enjoyed complimentary drinks & snacks at 4pm) before heading out again in the evening. The breakfasts were so good with table service provided by very professional and friendly staff and the views from the restaurant was fantastic. We loved Prague, having never been before, but what made it so special for us was Golden Well and the staff - Thank you.

We stayed at the Golden Well Hotel recently and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel itself is beautiful, the location perfect, the restaurant great and the staff incredible. We had a lovely welcome platter of fruit and a bottle of very good wine and every night we had a turndown service with delicious desserts. The bathroom was the most amazing bathroom I have ever seen--heated tile floors and the toilet was incredible. I cannot imagine a better location in Prague. When I return to Prague I will definitely stay here again.

Taxi's from the station as best obtained from the front of the station. Walk straight out the front and keep going towards the road in front. There is a taxi rank along that road. Can agree price or use meter (better)
Don't get taxi elsewhere as you'll get told some inflated price.
