On the follow-up to 2011's Digital Lows, Memphis rapper Cities Aviv submerges his natural tendencies beneath a strong post-punk influence, making for a bold collection that works with regard to his wordplay, but not always on the production.

It's hard to converse about Cities Aviv Without touching the subject of this mixtape.
Black Pleasure is easily his most creative and unique project.
The production style reminds me of old Christtt, with these 90s 80s samples chopped to something glitchy and chaotic.
Cities Aviv is also a great MC, and he shows it on this mixtape with some of the hardest bars and metaphors ever.
I think some people can have problems with mixing on this mixtape.

The production on this album carried the entire thing for me, there were parts of the album that felt too dragged out and long. The sampling on this project was incredible, super creative sampling and rapping from Cities Aviv on this album. ESCORTS had to be one of my favorite songs, the mixing with the vocals definitely wasn't fully there but that's the charm of this album. ESCORTS and NOT THAT I'M ANYWHERE are two otherworldly masterpieces, and I love how from the bottom of the underground and obscure this sounds (although it isn't literally) + how completely ahead of the time this is too, like even with me thinking Peggy is one of the goats he can thank his entire career on ESCORTS alone
