Aquacomputer D5 Next Constant Alarm

Troubleshooting

Hi all!

So I've managed to connect my Aquaero and Farbwerk via USB but no such luck with the D5 Next...I just can't manage to get it connected via USB to the PC. That said, it's connected via Aquabus to the aquaero, and Aquasuite "sees" it on the Aquabus (under Aquabus submenu of Aquaero) but not under Devices (under "Updates" submenu of Aquasuite). The problem now is that if I'm playing certain games (not all of them), the D5 next starts blinking red and making an alarm sound. It's in a part of the system where I can't really see the pump so I don't know what it's saying. It would be impossible to get it out of there without taking the whole thing apart which I'm loathe to do. I can't quite tell what is causing the alarm. Certainly temps are high at that time but not higher than other times of system stress. For instance, it didn't go off during a half hour Cinebench run, or an hour of playing one game on highest settings, but without fail goes off when doing 15 minutes or so of a different game. Also, my motherboard reads out the CPU temps and sometimes the D5 next goes off when the CPU is at 60-70, which is totally normal for this CPU.

Anybody have any ideas about what's going on and how I can disable the alarm? I'd love to connect via USB but alas, it keeps being "not recognized."

AFAIK that's normal. Once connected via Aquabus it shouldn't show up as a standalone device but you should see the pump itself under Pumps, its fan header under Fans, sensor in Sensors etc. It's no longer considered a standalone device but part of the Aquaero.

Are you using the virtual flow meter build into the D5 next together with the alarm?

Can't speak for all loops out there, but the flow alarm would randomly go off aswell. No idea what the pump is measuring, but there were times where the flow reading would decrease when I increased the pump speed.
Most boots would work fine, sometimes I'd get alarms from the getgo until I rebooted, other times it would randomly go off for a second or two.

Was just really unreliable in my loop, ended up just disabling the virtual flow meter completely. It's either the virtual flow sensor alarm, the pump RPM alarm or the temp alarm, all of which work standalone so doubt that it's a USB or Aquabus issue.

The USB cable is a bit sensitive. I had to change mine after rebuilding my PC.

To disable the alarm it should be a matter of opening the Aquero/D5 Next menu, then the alarm dropdown, and disable/modify any alarms pertaining to the D5 Next unless I'm misunderstanding your question/concern.
