Many, many people have done that (thousands if not millions). They are one of the more reliable ones, though you can have trouble with any of them.

I've done it on several occasions. Never had any problem whatsoever and it was always cheaper than booking with the airline/hotel directly.

I have also used them many times without problem. There are a few issues that have been mentioned on here, mainly relating to flight schedule changes, so the only advice is to keep following the airlines webpage for any schedule changes as expedia may not be as efficient of advising you as the airline would be

Depending on where you are going, I have always found BA to do good deals on flight and hotel. They have a sale on until Tuesday night.

I usually find the airline website offers the cheapest flight and greater choice than sites like Expedia.

Sometimes i book the flight well in advance and prefer to postpone booking tbe hotel until i have had time to research.

Sometimes the airline website offers the same discount for the flight/hotel combo.

I would always prefer to book direct with the airline/hotel etc. But occasionally Epedia comes up with the best deal and i have been happy to book the combo with them - no problems. But the real test is not when things go smoothly but when things go wrong. When things go wrong trying to resolve problems via an agent can be a pain.

In a recent flight booking the Expedia e mail pointed to the incorrect airline booking reference number. Irritating, but not a major problem.

I should add that if you book the flight and hotel together you get ATOL protection. Not sure what this means in practice. Maybe you can get compensation off Expedia if the hotel goes bust or "loses" your booking

When booking hotels I check the prices at Expedia, Venere and direct. It varies from booking to booking as to which is cheaper and sometimes there is quite a margin.

I have booked with Expedia a few times and never had any sort of problem, either booking or cancelling. I have used theur website and call centre and the service was profesional and efficient.

When ever you book with a 3rd party site like Expedia you should then go and check with the hotel and the airline to make sure they have your res.

Make sure you can pick your seats on the airline and check your flight itinerary weekly to be sure there are no changes in times for your flights.

Also ask here to make sure you have enough time if your flight requires a connection.

Don't assume Expedia(or any other site) will inform you of changes.

I also check the prices on the hotel's own web site and on the airline site because there is not always a price difference.

BTW Expedia no longer "owns" TA. TA is its own public corporation but Expedia does own shares of it.

I recently booked a trip with Expedia and it has been a nightmare. Some of the family have had flight changes and although this was before Christmas, they still haven't sorted it out. The call-centre is in India and they have no idea of customer service. Supervisors won't come to the phone, they never call you back and it's impossile to find contact details anywhere in the UK. I'd definitely book through another company and avoid American Airways flights.
