Waitstaff were very friendly and pleasant but grossly understaffed for the busy evening. They were running hard but it took 45 minutes to get our food. Next table got up and left because nobody was available to take their order.

The staff were friendly and nice. The food was very good. The music was a little loud. Overall it was a great experience. The real stand out was the staff, best customer service I have experienced in a while.

Service was very slow. Had to ask for plates to be taken away a long time after finishing main course. Starter was lovely. Main course was average.

Disappointing meal. Despite being told at seating that we couldn’t request substitutions, several items we ordered had ingredients substituted by the restaurant. Food quality was just not very good in 80% of our meal. Staff worked very hard and were pleasant. They seemed overworked.

The restaurant is very big,so it should not have opened at all for dinner, lack of management threw out stay except for amazing receptionist and my sever @ dinner,a lovely person, breakfast team very nice!!!

Had the chicken wings to start, 8 in the bowl, bottom 3 were stone cold, sent those back, main course came out braised beef with mash & veg, mash & veg luke warm at best, beef was fine. Overall for the Hotel its in, it was very Disappointing. 3/10

The hosts accomodated us without batting an eyelid even though we were 15 minutes early and had booked the incorrect amount of people at our table. Thanks to the team for putting on a lovely Santa Lunch Experience. :)

We had the best Santa lunch experience. The food was great, the atmosphere was buzzing. The afternoon was so relaxing and the visit to Santa was so well organised. 10/10 for Mary who is exceptional at her job.

Overpriced, mashed garden peas with chips and fish is not nice, waited 40 mins for dinner so very hungry when it arrived, waitress didn't give me my change back from bill, didn't get the things I requested when I booked the table, disappointment overall

There was a misprint on the menu regarding the type of steak. The steak was tough. We were told by one waiter we were getting garlic potato, but got very salty chips. When we queried we were told there never was garlic potato on the menu. We left the restaurant hungry.

We booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary, unaware at the time that we’d be in Galway during a very busy time (midterm, Macnas parade,rugby, Comedy Festival). At first, I thought our special evening would be ruined by the screaming child (screaming) in the restaurant. Little ones cry, of course, but the parents were oblivious to the fact that it was disruptive. We were told that the party (a large party) would be leaving soon, and they did depart within 15 minutes. The food was great, the service was good, considering they really were slammed with customers. But there were delays with our orders. The manager recognized this, and to her great credit, she made a significant adjustment to our bill. Kudos to her for such generosity during a very stressful evening. The only complaint I have is that the music was too loud and inappropriate for fine dining. Instead of classic rock, light jazz or old standards (like Sinatra) might have worked better. In the end, we had a wonderful anniversary dinner.

What was once a peerless institution of Galway is now a shadow of its former self. A Sunday afternoon and was told the gaslight was closed due to small booking numbers. What happened to serving Sunday lunch or afternoon tea with the piano playing. Clearly new management have taken more than their eye off the ball.

We had the breakfast that comes with the overnight stay at the hotel. Food - delicious, fresh, plentiful. Granola/oatmeal/fruit/yogurt + selection of eggs/sausages/bacon, etc. Can have made to order. Staff - best I have ever seen. quietly efficient, any staff can assist at any table, in the background but available quickly Room - bright, clean and quiet. Overall very very good.

The menu described “crispy chicken skin” on the gem salad but they were soggy and hardly a compliment to the lettuce. The server had to go back to the kitchen to find out what the day’s fish was, inspiring little confidence in her abilities. The Hake dish was bland. For such a nice hotel, the dinner was a disappointment. Oh, and the choice of music was miserable.

Some evening specials enhanced the menu choices. I went for monk fish in a rather Spanish chorizo-tomato-potato sauce. Very good. Great wine selection.

Over all, a good experience. Maybe a little overpriced but good ambiance. Service was excellent. Couldn't get oysters cooked and forgot some of my order, but did recognize our special celebration.
