Notes

From 1967 to 2016 the English musician David Bowie released twenty-six studio albums.

Black Tie White Noise is the eighteenth studio album by British musician David Bowie, released on 5 April 1993 through Savage Records Ltd. in the United States and Arista Records in the United Kingdom.
It was recorded throughout April–November 1992 between studios in Montreux, Los Angeles and New York City, with production handled by Bowie and Nile Rodgers, who previously co-produced 1983's Let's Dance.

      Absolutely beautiful and romantic R&B / Jazz album which I cannot get tired of. This record is unfortunately missing "Looking for Lester" and "The Wedding" due to lack of space, though these and even a rock mix of jump they say is included on the cassette version. Lovely vinyl with crisp sound

            I like the way Bowie reissues are completely pop and click free (so far!). I just wish companies and their staff would pay as much attention to the vinyl products made for the lesser mortals. I say that because I imagine that because it's Bowie please actually give a....and check the test pressings thoroughly back at the office! Not sure the same can be said for Popol Vuh or Field Music or Everything Everything. Even George Harrison's All Things Must Pass wasn't taken care of with quite the same respect.

            Anyway, the album itself...well, you know it divides the fans like very few others. Personally I like everything on it except the instrumentals. And I like everything about the instrumentals except Bowie's bloomin' awful saxophone playing. He got away with playing his clumsy, dead toned melodies over the more angular and jagged experimental stuff of the late 70s but here I'm afraid the accidental, 'hey man it's art' approach doesn't work. His intentions are clearly to play a tune but he falls shorts 90% of the time and some poor engineer has had to put chorus effect and delay on it here and there to try and tart it up as 'wild'...when it isn't it's just shit playing. F**k knows what Nile Rodgers was thinking!

            I hasten to add I love Bowie, the man and his music, and have every major album release on vinyl apart from only a couple in the mid-80s. Black Tie White Noise would've been wonderful though had he not brought his saxophone to the studio.

              The jacket looks to me like a quality repro. The cover does not look piixalated or washed out.. it’s pretty vivid.

                Another happy punter with the remaster.

                Flat discs and mostly silent (two odd clicks so far, currently on side three). Avoids being overly compressed by being spread over two discs.

                A fine acquisition and less than £28 on Amazon. Complete bargain.

                Definite overtones of the masterpiece that was ‘Outside’ (my favourite Bowie album ever), which followed this project two albums later. Highly recommended.

                  Guys, I want to ask the happy owners of this release -- how good or bad is the quality of the cover? Is this a chip scan of the original material, upscale, as it often happens? Or it's a good sharp execution of the original artwork? Is the cover really as totally blue as in the photo? Thanks

                    This is one of my most favourite Bowie albums. But this release is not that high quality as I was expecting.
                    Records are flat and silent, with only very rare minor surface noise. But some songs (Black Tie White Noise, Jump They Say, Pallas Athena etc.) sound very compressed, you can't hear the details much.
                    Also cover should've been gatefold and contain some booklet IMO.
