What to expect when Super Bowl 56 kicks off?

The 6:30 PM ET Super Bowl start time creates a favorable viewing schedule for the contiguous United States. Super Bowl 56 will feature two first overall picks at QB for just the second time in NFL history. Panthers QB Cam Newton and Broncos QB Peyton Manning became the first Super Bowl duel of first overall draft picks in Super Bowl 50. Seven years later, Burrow and Stafford join them.

Should Cincinnati complete this incredible postseason run, their second-year QB would join some elite company. Burrow and rookie WR Ja’Marr Chase won a College Football National Championship with LSU in 2019. The only QBs to win the Super Bowl and a CFP National Championship are Jets QB Joe Namath and 49ers QB Joe Montana. Burrow also becomes the first QB selected first overall to start in a Super Bowl within his first two years. He is the third QB selected in the first round to start a Super Bowl by Year 2, joining all-time greats Dan Marino and Ben Roethlisberger.

Matthew Stafford looks to join an exclusive Super Bowl club

But let’s not leave Stafford in the dark. The former Detroit Lion hopes to become the third QB to win a Super Bowl with a new team in his first year with Los Angeles. One year ago in Super Bowl LV, Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But to find the first signal-caller to do it, we have to go back 22 years to Super Bowl XXXV for Trent Dilfer’s first year in Baltimore.

While Burrow’s story would become an all-time Super Bowl legend, the Rams’ pass rush is on a mission of their own. DT Aaron Donald wants a ring, as evidenced by his game-ending play and celebration against the 49ers two weeks ago. His 23% pass rush win rate while double-teamed is game-breaking, especially given LA’s assortment of threats outside of Donald.

The Rams’ defensive front provides so much depth in one of the more lopsided matchups of the Super Bowl tomorrow. It’s finally Stafford’s time to see the confetti drop for a Super Bowl victory after years of dysfunctional management in Detroit.
