Before joining the NFL, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock had a successful college career. What did Lock’s time playing college football look like?
Drew Lock’s College Career
Lock spent his college career at Missouri, spending nearly four seasons as the Tigers’ starter.
Coming out of Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Mo., Lock was a four-star recruit, according to ESPN. As a senior in 2014, he was The Kansas City Star’s All-Metro Player of the Year after passing for 2,731 yards and 28 touchdowns and was ranked as the sixth-best pocket-passer quarterback in the Class of 2015.
He was also considered a two-star basketball prospect as a shooting guard, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, but he retired from basketball after high school.
Lock began his collegiate career by completing six of 10 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown in the 2015 season-opener against Southeast Missouri State while coming off the bench for two series. He took over as Mizzou’s starting quarterback over the final eight games of 2015.
In a win over South Carolina that season, he became the school’s first true freshman to start at quarterback since Corby Jones in 1995, going 21-for-28 passing for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Lock finished that first season 2-6 and tallied 1,332 passing yards, four touchdown passes, and eight interceptions.

Lock got a fresh start in 2016 and led the team to a 4-8 record as he started in all 12 games. He finished the year with 3,399 passing yards, 23 touchdown passes, and 10 interceptions.
Lock guided the Tigers to a winning record in his final two seasons and made a case for an NFL career with a successful junior campaign in which he threw for a career-high 3,964 yards, 44 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
In his senior year, Lock had 3,498 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions along with six rushing touchdowns.
Missouri did not win a bowl game during Lock’s tenure, but the quarterback went 15-11 over his final two seasons and an overall record of 21-25 in his collegiate career.
Lock’s NFL Career
Lock was selected 42nd overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2019 NFL Draft. Lock was the fourth quarterback drafted in 2019 behind first-rounders Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, and Dwayne Haskins.
Lock spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Broncos and finished with an 8-13 record while appearing in 24 games.
Denver named him the starter late in his rookie season. He played well with seven touchdown passes while leading the team to four wins in five starts. However, Lock took a step back in 2020, throwing a league-high 15 interceptions in 13 starts.
Beat out by Teddy Bridgewater for the starting position the following fall, Lock appeared in six games with three starts in his final season in Denver, throwing for 787 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
This led to him being included in a deal to acquire Russell Wilson from Seattle. On March 8, 2022, the Seahawks and Broncos agreed on a blockbuster trade.
In the trade, the Broncos received Wilson and DL Eyioma Uwazurike (via a 2022 fourth-round pick). Meanwhile, the Seahawks received Lock, TE Noah Fant, DL Shelby Harris, and multiple picks.
Now, in his fifth NFL season, Lock is looking for a second chance with the Seahawks. He most recently stepped in for an injured Geno Smith in Week 14, where he threw for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the 28-16 loss.
