Nicolas of Lorraine, Duke of Mercœur (16 October 1524 – 23 January 1577) was the second son of Antoine, Duke of Lorraine, and Renée de Bourbon.
First marriage[edit]
On 1 May 1549, he married Marguerite d'Egmont in Brussels.
Issue[edit]
- Marguerite of Lorraine (born 9 February 1550) died in infancy.
- Catherine of Lorraine (born 26 February 1551) died in infancy.
- Henri of Lorraine, Count of Chaligny (born 9 April 1552) died in infancy.
- Louise of Lorraine (30 April 1553 – 29 January 1601) married Henry III of France.
Second marriage[edit]
On 24 February 1555, he married Princess Joanna of Savoy, daughter of Philippe, Duke of Nemours.

- Philippe Emmanuel of Lorraine, Duke of Mercœur (1558–1602).
- Charles de Lorraine (20 April 1561 – 29 October 1587) known as the Cardinal de Vaudémont.
- Jean of Lorraine (born 14 September 1563) died young.
- Marguerite of Lorraine (14 May 1564 – 20 September 1625) married Anne, Duke of Joyeuse married François de Luxemburg, Duke of Piney.
- Claude of Lorraine (born 12 April 1566) died young.
- François of Lorraine, Marquis of Chaussin (15 September 1567 – 1596) died unmarried.
Third marriage[edit]
On 11 May 1569, he married Princess Catherine of Lorraine, daughter of Claude, Duke of Aumale.

- Henri of Lorraine, Count of Chaligny (31 July 1570 – 26 October 1600) married Claude de Mouy.
- Christine of Lorraine, Marquis of Mouy (born 24 September 1571) died young.
- Antoine of Lorraine (27 August 1572 – 1587) died in infancy.
- Louise of Lorraine (b. 27 March 1575) died young.
- Eric of Lorraine (14 March 1576 – 27 April 1623) Bishop of Verdun.
