Product description
From Amazon
Tim Allen, star of the hit sitcom Home Improvement, takes on quantum philosophy, intergender relationships, and the male midlife crisis in a joke-filled (but ultimately serious) "weekend in the life" narrative. It's an odd combination, shifting from enthusiastic gushing over restored sports cars to earnest elaborations upon Deepak Chopra and Fritjof Capra, but Allen manages to pull it off. If you're expecting a standard unchallenging celebrity-penned "book," or a fluff-filled "memoir," you're going to be quite surprised.
About the Author
Tim Allen has won six People's Choice Awards for his television show, Home Improvement, and he was twice nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. His first feature film, The Santa Clause, was a number one hit, and his first book, Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man, was a number one bestseller. He lives with his wife and daughter in Los Angeles and Michigan.

I have read all of these reviews, and am very surprised by some of them. This book is a personal journey for Tim Allen. One he invited us to come along for. No, it is not the intense humor of his first book, and no it is not a Quantum Physics text book. Nor do I think it was meant to rival anything by David Bohm. Actually he seems to be in awe of Mr. Bohm. This is a deep book which will speak to those open to it. It is better off left alone by those who cannot grasp it, or better yet, are not ready to, as well as those who have forgotten their path and feel that they are too far beyond it. What I found in this book was an intelligent questioning person who has pushed himself to grow immensely. I do not think Mr. Allen meant to rival great minds in Quantum Physics, merely to show us what can happen to us if we explore something outside our everyday humdrum existence as he has. If you are looking for a repeat of his first book, open yourself and try something new. If you are into Quantum Physics, open it and remember your roots, and don't take yourself so seriously, (another message in this book). Open your mind and you will love this book.

This book is not as humourous as his first book, Don't Stand to Close to a Naked Man, but it shows a new side of the toolman. A side that is not shown in his show, any of his stand up comedy or in his first book. To show this side of himself, Tim Allen had to take a large step, and in doing so, he shows that he is more than a man's man. He shows that he's also a thinking man, and his world does not completely revolve around tools and cars, though they are a large part of his life. This book still has its humourous points, but has a much more serious tone overall. It is much more philosophical and deals with Quantum Mechanics, and it brings up some very large questions that we rarely deal with on a day to day basis. This book will not only make you laugh, it will also make you think.

After reading this book, I have a new and better view of Tim Allen. This review is also to counter the mindless and sometimes rediculous negative reviews by some Amazon.com contributors. Tim's first book was much more comedy oriented. If this had been his first book, the masses would not have believed it was written by Tim Allen, the grunting, knuckle-dragging man-nut from television comedy. Mr Allen presents us with a deep, thought provoking and emotional (yes, there WAS some real emotion here) journey with a douse of fiction which creates an interesting and truly good read. I was thoroughly entranced with this book, and it was not difficult to understand. It did not require much thought or concentration to get in to, yet also did not require that you throw logic out the window to enjoy. Kudos to Mr. Allen for creating a beautiful piece of literature.

i'm one who read "don't stand to close to a naked man" found it hilarious and bougth this book expecting the same stuff...some light..non taxing reading...after the first couple chapters i had my doubts about buying it altogether...i was thinking "the tool man" trying to be philosophical and teach "me" about quantum theory...gimme a break...but as the book continues(if you're interested by quantum theory by the way try michael crichton's "timeline")he does make some inspiring and mentally stimulating points...by the time i reached the end i had a totally different perception of the man tim dick..allen... whoever...all in all impressing stuff.

I loved his first book. It was a riot. This one just didn't have very much. There were a couple funny parts. I guess I should have given this book a 2 but I was spoiled by how hilarious the first one was.

This book was not what I expected but BETTER. I heard about it on a TV special about Tim and immediately bought it. It is Interesting from cover to cover. Tim talks about life, and family, and Quantum Physics!! All with a great sense of humor. In this book I AMAZINGLY learned more about the reality of our world and how everything fits together in the the best way someone could explain it, DEF NOT BORING!
Some parts new the end were mind-bending! So amazingly new concepts about life to grasp but at the very near end Tim brings the meaning of life together. Tim talked about life like a close friend who is really smart would at the same time as telling jokes from time to time about crazy fans and silly nuances of everyday life from email to going shopping at the grocery store.
WITHOUT A DOUBT YOU SHOULD BUY THIS BOOOK. YOU WILL BE HAPPY WHEN YOU READ IT!

My father believes that this book must be ghost-written, but I think that Tim Allen's actually a pretty smart guy and he probably knows Quantum at the level that he's writing about it. This was really my first intro to QM and it's the most entertaining book on the subject I've ever read. Also, the monotony is constantly broken by Tim's search for a car ornament and descriptions of his family. It's a fun read and a lot more "intelligent" than Don't Stand Too Close to a Nake Man.

Seems as if Tim's grown up. Not that kind of funny stuff like in "Don't stand so close ...". Nevertheless a very interesting book with ups and downs and questions and answers, everybody knows or at last should know. The book could be written by Wilson Wilson!

Was not expecting to get introduced to physics books through a Tim Allen book. This read is really underrated. Def going to read Tim's suggestions in The Tao of Physics and Dancing Wu Li Masters.
