On Instagram, Matt Brown, the black sheep of the Alaskan Bush People family, opened up about how he has managed to stay sober, even through dark times. The 39-year-old has been living on his own, away from the Wolf Pack, since their falling out. Matt has taken it upon himself to help out people who are facing addiction issues.

Matt from Alaskan Bush People has been adding updates fairly regularly, and sharing information about his time away from the Discovery Channel show. Matt and the rest of the Brown family became known for their unconventional ways while they embraced life in the wilderness. Ami and Billy Brown chose to keep their family away from modern technology (mostly, anyway), and the politics of the lower 48 states. Unlike some of his family members, Matt has been off the radar. He often keeps to himself after being accused of sexual assault.

Matt Brown Is Staying Sober

After the incident, Matt took to his Instagram profile to share a few tips with his followers, regarding staying sober during difficult times. The video showed Matt filming himself atop a mountain close to his home, after a long day of hiking. He spoke freely to his fans, telling them that recovery from addiction is not always easy, especially during the beginning stages. Many of his followers often tune in to Matt's updates for a bit of inspiration. Matt is a proponent of rehab facilities, as he attended the Betty Ford Center himself. Matt is very upfront about which recovery tools worked best for him, and often encourages fans who are struggling to find positive outlets.

As most Alaskan Bush People followers know, Matt has been on the outs with his entire family. Luckily, he was able to reconcile with his father before he passed away in February 2021. After Matt was kicked off of the family show, his family essentially disowned him. Since Billy's death, Matt has continued to work on himself, while hoping for reconciliation. He has had some tough days, but remains optimistic about life and its possibilities.

Ever since production for the most recent Alaskan Bush People season wrapped, fans have been wondering if Matt will ever make another appearance on the family show. The eldest member of the Wolf Pack doesn't seem to want to come back to the series, which is good, since the network will likely not be inviting him back anytime soon. Matt is concentrating on keeping himself physically and mentally healthy, so he doesn't fall back into his old habits.
