She was a goddess. Her plastic surgeons should have their licences taken away.

And her coke dealer(s)

u/thekevingreene avatar

Definitely should take away their licenses too

Really, they hand those licenses out like candy these days. It used to be about the art of making and distributing cocaine. Now, it seems like coke dealers only care about the money.

u/PowerandSignal avatar

Back in the day, when dealing was a trade you took pride in.

No, no, candy licenses are way harder to get. Did you know sugar is the worst white powder??

She’s 48??!?! Wow. She looks 78 now.

There's no way that's the same woman.

My wife and I saw here on that Special Forces reality show. She was a trainwreck and seemed to be under the influence of something.

And really, this photo doesn't show you how she can barely speak. Too much fillers or lifting or something, but she seems like she's really struggling to form words.

This is nothing. Look up Bridget Fonda.

This one too. 😣

Jesus fucking Christ man.

She looks like an orc and an elven warrior from Lord of the rings had a baby.

And then dropped it down a flight of stairs.

Did she order these teeth online? I hope she didn't pay a dentist for these.

The teeth really make her look old, and I think that has something to do with her being underweight. They look too big in her mouth.

noooo :( aww that sucks, i'm so sorry for her. it's so unfair

Substance abuse and being an aging sex symbol who relied heavily on looks will destroy you, I feel so bad for her. She was beautiful before all the work and she would have aged beautifully without it (and the drugs too I guess).

She got done really dirty by the media after a pic showing her still-healing boob job went viral. She's never been an amazing actress, I think that much is plain, but imo she's a bit of a cult queen. She's in a ton of really terrible horror movies (seriously, so many) and you just get this vibe from her that she really loves what she's doing and is having fun doing her dream job.

substance abuse sadly does that to a person.

So does anorexia, no nutrition.

Michelle Trachtenberg is a perfect example, although hard to know for certain what's going on there.

That's unfortunately the case for most celebs. I reaaaaaally rarely consider plastic surgery an improvement.

u/Conradfr avatar

Because when it is you don't notice it.

u/smkn3kgt avatar

fair point!

You can usually tell though. Just look what happened to Emily Blunt, J Law, etc

It must be strange to feel valued only for your appearance. And terrifying when the first wrinkle or sag appears. I can understand the fear of being tossed aside as you age, and for some it must be valid.

u/negitororoll avatar

I feel for a lot of women who have internalized this. We may blame social media but the pressure has been around a lot longer than that.

Some men have that feeling as well.

As a 12-year old at the time, she was my dream girl. Her voice (followed by Lindsay Lohan, then Emma Stone) made my knees weak. It’s a shame she got the Hollywood makeover.

She really had it going on for awhile there. Loved her in Josie and the Pussycats - underrated performance.

One of many examples of how Hollywood chews you up and spits you out.

Josie is an all-time classic in another timeline. I can live with it as very an underappreciated cult hit though.

Ive seen that movie probably 300 times as a young teen lol

I didn't see it until a few years ago and was surprised by how good it was. Then I watched the trailer and realized why I didn't see it when it came out. The trailer does a terrible job of representing the movie.

I mean with her her bigger issue was her party lifestyle and getting a huge ego about her popularity.

Iirc she had multiple duis and would either show up late to set or not at all

She's actually one of the few of those party girls from that era that never got into any legal trouble. She's actually spoken on it recently that the party girl reputation hurt her image, but the public's assumption that she was getting DUIs and arrested hurt more.

Surely the woman had serious issues - much of which caused and/or perpetuated by the Hollywood meat-grinder itself. But I agree that she certainly is not blameless.

1998 was a good year for her with this and The Big Lebowski, she wasn't famous yet and you can see in her performances that she took it seriously and wanted to stand out. She's awesome in Urban Legend, so much more likable than anyone else in the movie and her chase scene is truly one of the best in all of the slasher genre. The sex-obsessed radio host suited her like a glove.

Urban Legend is one of my horror comfort movies and she's a big reason why! She brightens up the movie every time she appears and knocks it out of the park commanding the stage of an incredible set piece (doing her own stunts!).

u/WiggyDiggyPoo avatar

It's a very underrated film I felt, haven't seen it in years but always enjoyed it.

Yeah, it's definitely underrated, but I think it's gaining fans as it ages. I watch it at least once a year, totally a comfort watch, which is funny to say about a movie that has such a mean streak with its kills, but it just has that cozy university vibe to pair with them.

Beautiful woman then, but the pressures of life and bad relationships got to her during her peak. "In October 2006, Reid acknowledged in an interview with Us Weekly that she had undergone liposculpting.[18] In the interview, she discusses how her plastic surgery "went wrong" and also explains why she decided to have plastic surgery done, saying that her breasts were uneven and that she wanted a "sixpack" for a new movie role. The liposuction resulted in deformity."

u/jefferzbooboo avatar

That didn't stop her from having more plastic surgery, though. Her nose is approaching Michael Jackson territory.

Gotta get plastic surgery to fix the bad plastic surgery and hope for the best I guess?

The early 00’s were misogynistically brutal to beautiful young women, she was an absolute victim of it.

This movie is a great nostalgic trip. You've got the Rob Zombie and the Cherry Poppin' Daddies on the soundtrack, Dawson's Creek and Noxema Girl references, and bleached blonde hair and spiked chokers. Tara is really cute in the movie, too.
