Biography

Eddie Kaye Thomas was an American actor who was best known for playing Paul Finch in the "American Pie" (1999) series of movies from 1999 to 2012. Born and raised in New York City, Thomas practically knew from birth that he wanted to become an actor. On the urging of his parents, however, he initially gravitated towards stage acting and began landing parts in plays at the age of 7. By the age of 10 he was appearing in Shakespearean plays, and had already appeared on Broadway by his late teens. It was screen-acting, however, that Thomas longed to do, and by the mid-90s he was nabbing small parts in films like "Illtown" (1996), "Mr. Jealousy" (1997), and "Harvest." Then in 1999 Thomas landed his breakout role as the pseudo-intellectual Paul Finch in the hit teen comedy "American Pie" (1999). The smash success of the film made Thomas an overnight star and he would go on to appear in two more sequels, "American Pie 2" (2001) and "American Wedding" (2003), over the next four years. From there Thomas continued working steadily throughout the 2000s, most notably with roles in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" (2004), a recurring role in the series "'Til Death" (Fox, 2006-10), and a supporting role in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" (2008). In 2005 he also began voicing the role of Barry Robinson on the Fox animated series "American Dad!" (Fox, 2005- ). The 2010s were just as prolific for Thomas. In addition to reprising his role as Finch in a fourth "American Pie" sequel, 2012's "American Reunion," he was also a castmember on the HBO series "How to Make It in America" (HBO, 2010-11). In 2014 he nabbed a part on the CBS action series "Scorpion" (CBS, 2014- ). The series premiered on the network in 2014, with Thomas playing the part of Toby Curtis.
