Sam Claflin, Rupert Friend to headline WWII thriller Perdition

Actors Sam Claflin and Rupert Friend have been confirmed to headline the upcoming World War II action thriller Perdition. The film is set to be directed by writer-filmmaker Henry Dunham of The Standoff at Sparrow Creek fame.

Set in December 1944 against the war-torn Belgian landscape as World War II pushes toward a brutal climax, Perdition follows the journey of a lone American soldier (Claflin), who miraculously survives a POW camp execution. As he ventures into the bone-chilling landscape to save himself and a precious cargo salvaged from the camp, a ruthless Nazi SS officer on horseback (Friend) discovers his tracks and becomes obsessed with hunting him down.

Sam Claffin is known for his roles in Peaky Blinders and The Hunger Games franchise. He was recently seen in Daisy Jones and the Six for which he earned the Golden Globe nomination. He has wrapped up The Count of Monte Cristo TV adaptation in which he plays the lead opposite Jeremy Irons. Up next, he will be seen in Colm McCarthy’s Bagman and the Barnaby Roper-directed film Animal.

Friend has made his mark with his versatile roles, including appearances in Wes Anderson's Netflix shorts The Swan and The Ratcatcher, as well as the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. His upcoming films include Canary Black, in which he will star alongside Kate Beckinsale, and in Drew Hancock's Companion which has Lucas Gage and Jack Quaid in lead roles.

The film which is currently in the pre-production stages, will start principal photography soon. While Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will produce for Thunder Road Pictures, Claffin is also executive producing the film.
