Eleanor Talbot was daughter of John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury and his Countess, Margaret Beauchamp.
In her father's will made on the 1st of September 1452 and proved on the 18th of January 1453/54 [1] he referred to £1000 that had been paid for the marriage of his daughter Elianore. If Lord Sudeley (Thomas Butler) did not fulfill his part of the covenants then the Testator's Executors were to sue Lord Sudeley for the repayment of the sum.
In 1483, long after her death, Lady Eleanor Talbot was alleged to have been "pre-contracted" to Edward IV, which led to Edward's marriage to Elizabeth Woodville being declared invalid and the crown passing to his brother Richard, Duke of Gloucester, instead of his son, Edward V. [2][3][4][5]
