Butler elected president of national tribal group’s board of directors
Mashantucket ― Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, has been elected president of the board of directors of NAFOA, the Native American Finance Officers Association.
Butler, Mashantucket chairman since 2010, was elected this week during the association’s 42nd annual conference at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Hollywood, Fla. His service to the Mashantuckets, owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino, dates to 2004, when he was first elected to the tribal council.
NAFOA was founded to highlight the role of tribal finance in fostering economic opportunities. Over the last four decades, it has been an advocate of sound economic and fiscal policy and a developer of training programs in financial management.
